Ashamed to admit, but I didn't know enough about chargers to even ask--that's just what they sent me! The Emporía software is very good, as you note. I like being able to track exactly how much we spend on in-home charging, but I'm sure there are many other features I have yet to discover.
Did you get the pro or clsssic Emporia? Do you have solar?

The Pro comes with a second, very small, device which can be mounted in your main service box, in essence between the meter and your service. It can detect which way current is flowing. If you choose the setting in the app to activate it, it will only charge your (plugged in) Mach E if the house is sending at least an excess 1.5kg back to the grid. So it allows you to leave your car plugged in and automatically only charge on excess solar (this part may be available to purchase separately to use with classic.) I understand that the Pro also comes with software to share power between two chargers simultaneously from a service box only adequate for one at full charge rate. For example, you can have two Emporia chargers on the same service and two different EV's plugged in at the same time, and the software will reduce both from 48 to 24amps automatically to safely charge both vehicles simultaneously.

Do you use either of these functions?

Wow--how did you get an Emporia charger? QMerit only offered us either if the two Ford chargers. Now considering selling it and paying all over to install an Emporia charger for its superior software. The Ford Pro Charger is buggy and too often show a charge fault if you plug in outside the selected window rather than waiting for the next window to charge. Also like the charge onsolar feature offered by the Emporia Pro.

Our QMerit was difficult because we are in a rural area and they had trouble finding an electrical contractor, going through two before settling on the third. We did have to pay the local permitting fee.
Ford determines the EVSE you get. When they finally got rid of their stock of Ford-branded EVSEs, they began supplying Emporia.

We have the classic, and don't use either of those cool functions b/c we don't have solar and don't have two electric vehicles. I'm going to look into solar because I think we have 1:1 credit for excess energy (at least for now) through our provider, so an install would pay off quicker than in some places. Though in NE Ohio we don't have as much sun as a lot of other places... (Looking at you and @Kamuelaflyer ) Of course, we are a lot warmer and sunnier here than we were 25 years ago, despite the opinion in some quarters that climate change is a "con job" and a "scam." (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

My only option was an Emporia charger. Glad to here they are good.

Got my install a few weeks ago. I was given a coupon for the Emporia Classic from Qmerit. Was delivered in 2 days.
It works well, and qualifies for many electric co off-peak charging discounts. The Ford chargers do not.
My only complaint is the holster points the charge cable straight out from the wall. Would have preferred something that angled down or could pivot to either side. Had I realized that prior to install, I would have gone with an aftermarket dock from the get go. Now I need to either fill the existing holes in my brick, or fabricate a custom mounting block that uses those holes and mount the new dock to that.

Same problem with the dock. I instead use the dock from the portable Ford charger that came with the car. It's at a decent 45 deg. angle and I otherwise have no use for it now that I have the Emporia permanently mounted. The Ford charger goes into my frunk for travel.

Actually, our Ford Charger Pro is mounted on a plywood plate I attached to a 4x4 post in our garage with the chord looped over it and the holster also pointing straight ahead out if the body of the charger. So the emporia's holster will not be an issue for us that way--I'll just have to make a new custom mounting plate.
The plate is painted white which blends into our garages white interior and the white charger. If we order the Emporia, it will also be the white version.

Have you guys been able to loop your chord over the charger itself? Or do you have to use the holster over which you loop the chord?

Our car is only 3 feet from the charger (hence the need for the angled dock), so we have coiled and bundled almost all of the charging cord and we hang it on the holster, which is a foot away from the charger. Small garage!

You could wrap around the charger. Here's a pic.

Where'd you hear that? My local power utility--an 'irrigation district"--offers off-peak charging discounts. They only wanted proof that I had an EV, which I provided with the sales contract (in lieu of the registration). They didn't have any EVSE brand requirement at all (and why would they care?). I just made a 200 mile round trip on $9.74 of juice.

Because they can get data from Emporia to see when you're actually using the charger, and charge off-peak rates accordingly.

What's the name of the utility that does not allow Ford chargers?
I never said a utility does not allow Ford chargers. That's ridiculous.
What I did say was that the Ford chargers do not qualify for many off-peak EV charging discounts because the system can not be accessed by the utility. The Emporia Classic does qualify. Specifically, Dominion Energy provides a $125 rebate on the purchase of qualifying chargers, as well as up to a $40 per month off-peak charging discount if the charger is enrolled in their program (required for the rebate).
Your local utility may offer other off-peak discounts unrelated to EV charging based on usage recorded for your entire home via a smart meter or other equipment. That isn't what we're discussing though.

Then, your original statement was, at best, ambiguous. If you'd written 'the Ford chargers may not [qualify with some utilities]' I would not have taken issue with it. But, thanks for the clarification; this is the first I've heard of EVSEs that report activity to the utility (sounds like it's essentially a separate meter for your charger). This is a bit aggravating because, at least here in California, it hasn't been that long since the utilities were begging, if not demanding, that customers plan their activities (A/C, etc.) for off-peak hours to prevent brownouts/blackouts (and paying higher rates for external supply). MID advertises its EV support on local radio. It doesn't surprise me that some utilities are 'honing' in on EV power consumption (standard meters already report time of usage, and utilities already have tiered pricing structure). It may be part of the general anti-EV backlash wrought by the current administration. FWIW, I never supported the Ca. EV mandate against ICE cars--I have several sports/high perf. models--and EVs don't make sense for a lot of people, so I have no issue with that part of the backlash, and was ambivalent about the tax credits (I won't get any for my Mach-E). I also expect to eventually get an additional fee on my registration since I'm not paying California's notorious pump tax, which I think is fair (it'll likely be a couple hundred bucks a year). Now, if only the taxes and fees went exclusively to road maintenance, like they're supposed to.
