How many of these things do they need to produce? Do they have one guy making these things by hand in Timbuktoo? Perhaps that same guy builds them and delivers each one personally via bicycle.
Around 120,000 I think. At least that was the largest order number I've seen posted so far.

Lots of folks are blaming Tesla. Apparently Ford had a deal for Tesla to produce them. Honestly, I don't know anything about that. Tesla didn't tell me they'd send me an adapter. Ford did. I'd be just as happy if Ford called up A2Z and ordered them from there.

This.

Holding out for the “free” adapter just doesn’t seem worth the wait. Buy one and be done with it. This is way down on the Oracle of Pretoria’s “To Do” list.

Yay! Another thread with pissed off people whining about the free adapter Ford was never obligated to give them! These threads are the backbone of this forum! Keep them coming!
This is nothing. Wait for mid Fall when the “Ford gave me the wrong battery” threads start. ;)

How is it even possible that this is taking so long? It is not like Ford is selling a million EV's a year. How many of these things do they need to produce? Do they have one guy making these things by hand in Timbuktoo? Perhaps that same guy builds them and delivers each one personally via bicycle.
Tesla is building them or causing them to be built. They’re directly or indirectly in control of the production. Ford is also the first in line for the adapters. Rivian and GM immediately follow, then everyone else.
I'd be just as happy if Ford called up A2Z and ordered them from there.
Third party adapters are not supported. While it’s true that they do work, and work quite well, the only supported adapter is the one designed and manufactured by, or manufactured to the design and specs of Tesla. Tesla wants to control the quality and specs of adapters connecting to its chargers.

I rather seriously doubt Ford could contract with a third party for a different adapter and simultaneously stay in compliance with their Tesla NACS contract.

Just wait until Tesla has to start delivering adapters to GM!

Mine too got bumped from June to September. I am not planning any long road trips so I can wait.

Something interesting, I took my car to have its 2 year service at just shy of 10K miles. While waiting for the car I took a walk around and noticed that the Land Rover/Jaguar dealer across the street from Galpin Ford and installed some chargers. Surprise, they were Tesla Level 2 chargers not J-plugs. There was a Tesla parked using one of these chargers. Galpin Ford has installed a large number of chargers but all level 2, no DC chargers that I could see. Most of these chargers were iced.

If you have a near-future need for an adapter, buy a third-party adapter. You can likely resell it without taking a loss since there are so many EVs out there that don’t have one. If you don’t have a need for an adapter, just wait. ?‍♂?

why would anyone buy a used one instead of a new one? Sure there probably won't be much loss, but you're not going to sell it for what you bought it for.
