NACS Adapter delivery window delayed again

Lots of folks are blaming Tesla. Apparently Ford had a deal for Tesla to produce them. Honestly, I don't know anything about that. Tesla didn't tell me they'd send me an adapter. Ford did. I'd be just as happy if Ford called up A2Z and ordered them from there.

They aren't going to risk sending out unauthorized chargers to the public.

okay. My comment was originally in response to people defending Ford and blaming other organizations. As I keep saying, those other orgs never told me they'd send me an adapter. Only Ford did.

In my particular case, that statement from Ford was a factor in my decision to purchase the car. Granted, they never promised when they'd ship it to me, but they did make that promise. I don't know what a "reasonable" time frame might be to expect delivery.

Ford also stated, on June 1st, on their adapter status page, that my particular adapter was currently in production. I suspect that wasn't true. It's 2 months later and I suspect its STILL not in production.

At some point, I think Ford stated that the adapter was a $230 value. Perhaps they should just start cutting checks for $230 to people.

All this chatter about blame and frustration is really pointless. Might as well rail against the sea. If you really need it then go out and buy it from a 3rd party. If you're like me - like to have it but can survive without it - just divert your attention elsewhere until Uncle Elon says we can have it. I am hereby suspending my personal angst over $230. item that I may have to purchase instead of getting it for free. I would be delighted if this were my biggest problem.

Correct, the bolded part above...You'll get it when you get it, stop bitching about things beyond your (and Ford's control) If you REALLY need one, get the a2z one which is a superior product anyway and you can always sell the Ford one (probably for a profit)when it does show up in late 2026..

I think there's an additional argument, specifically for those who purchase their vehicles after Ford's announcement (and therefore can reasonably claim that the adapter offer was part of the reason they purchased.) That would be the concept of a reasonable timeframe for delivery.

US Consumer law and precedent, while extremely biased in favor of businesses, it does have a concept of reasonable time frames.

What if you purchased a Ford Escape but for some reason, the spare tire was missing (assuming an Escape is supposed to come with a spare tire.) When you purchased the car, both Ford gave you a document promising that the spare tire would be delivered to you, at no additional cost -- but that document failed to specify WHEN it would be delivered. At what point does the consumer have a right to demand immediate delivery of the tire or refund of the vehicle?

Bringing this a little closer to the NACS adapter, a slightly different example: Instead of it being an Escape and a spare tire, it's actually a 2023 (Job 1) Ford Mach-E purchased and the EVSE that's supposed to come with it is what's missing. When does the customer get to demand from Ford that they either deliver the missing part, refund the car, or pay for DCFC charges incurred as a result of the EVSE not being delivered?

Okay, one more "what if" and I'll stop torturing people for now...

A consumer purchased a 2024 Mach-E after Ford promised the NACS adapter. The adapter wasn't included, but promised to be delivered for free. The consumer informs Ford that they'd like the adapter on the day they purchase the vehicle (by registering for it online.) 30 days later, the adapter still hasn't arrived or even been shipped. It could be argued that the missing adapter significantly degrades the functionality of the vehicle in the same way a ICE car would be degraded if only 50% of the available gas pumps could be used (perhaps because of the shape of the hole used for adding gasoline.)

I used the "30 days" for a very specific reason: several states have lemon laws that take effect when a car's use is significantly degraded for 30 or more days. While I personally don't think there's a valid lemon law case here, it's a fun argument.

All of this is just trying to differentiate between people who purchased their car before Ford's announcement of the adapter and those who purchased after the announcement. One group is getting a freebie they never had expectation of. The other group can say they purchased the car with the expectation of getting the adapter.

I have been following this thread for the most part and laughing to myself. I just can not believe anyone would make a $50,000 purchase on the notification they can get a free adapter in the future. The network is open to everyone - just wait for your adapter of purchase a third party. I would love to see the response to a buy back claim for this!

I'm not retired yet (just over the hill) and there really isn't much that could surprise me about people anymore.

As I (hope I) made clear in my post, I was just posting for the sake of argument, not for belief. On the other hand, I've seen some dumb lawsuits over the years... and have even seen some of those dumb lawsuits be won.

I'm not retired yet (just over the hill) and there really isn't much that could surprise me about people anymore.

As I (hope I) made clear in my post, I was just posting for the sake of argument, not for belief. On the other hand, I've seen some dumb lawsuits over the years... and have even seen some of those dumb lawsuits be won.

The first person I see do this I will sell them some prime waterfront property - that comes with a free flotation device!
