Ok… I think, for the first time, I’m actually seeing a chance for a solution here—thanks to Brian! 🙂

@Ford Motor Company
Brian, my VIN is WF0TK1EM6MMA30790. I’ll keep it short since my Mach-E’s OTA update issues have been ongoing for years (!) and the full story would be way too much for one post. No one in Europe has been able to help me. The case has been escalated several times and the car has been in the shop countless times, most recently just a month ago. Supposedly, all pending updates were installed, but something is clearly off. For example, my speedometer now shows “1 km/h” even while completely stationary. And this bug should definitely be fixed in the current Version!
Honestly, I’m out of ideas… According to Ford Europe, the car is OTA-capable, but I haven’t received any updates since that last service visit a month ago. Still no Blue Cruise (and I WANT TO PAY FOR IT!!!)

Also, I’ve always had to pay for each update to be installed! I have all the invoices to prove it. Sometimes Ford has covered part of the costs out of goodwill (but never the full amount), so I still just had to pay around €200 again at my last visit…

Could you at least check if my vehicle is actually able to receive OTA updates again?
Connectivity seems to be working fine on your car. Your car is on Sync 23352 which is not terrible considering it is a 2021. It is not the latest version, but not terribly old, either.

In terms of Bleucruise, your IPMA is misconfigured and has TJA (traffic jam assist) enabled instead of Bluecruise. Therefore, the option to subscribe to Bluecruise is not there for you. The first thing you'd need to do is correct the config in the first line of the IPMA to enable BC so that the next time your car sync up to the server, it will hopefully show the option for BC for you. Please note that there may be other modules misconfigured that are preventing BC from working. However, at a quick glance, I can tell you that with this config you see below, BC will 100% NOT work.

If your vehicle has never had BC working on it, you will most likley be eligible for the free 3 year trial your car came with since it has never been used. If you have FORScan or are willing to get it, I will do my best to help you fix it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check my configuration — I really appreciate it!

I honestly wonder how something like this can even happen from Ford @Ford Motor Company and / or the dealership. Is there any explanation for why the IPMA would be set to TJA instead of BlueCruise on a car that should have the feature?

Is this something that can be corrected remotely, or will I once again need to visit a dealer (and risk paying a few hundred euros for something that should be correct from factory)?

Thanks again for looking into it!

I don't have a good explanation as why to this happens, but I have seen this happen in many cases. My guess (particularly with job 1 2021 vehicles likes yours and mine) is that they shipped with the hardware for BC but not the software, so the factory released the vehicles with TJA working with the expectations that when the update for BC was ready, it would update the config to the correct config for BC, but this didn't happen for MANY vehicles. A dealer cannot fix this. Not directly, anyway. They would need to contact Ford engineers and most likely need to send an FSE to fix it.

A FORScan adapter will cost you $30USD. I may or may not be able to help you fix it, but it won't cost you much to try.

Hi rugedraw, how can this line be corrected to enable BC instead of TJA? Thanks
The correct config in the case referenced above for 706-01-01 SHOULD be (I would first check the VIN of a Mach E in his country with working BC to confirm):

8E34 2215 AE--

The 4 there is to disable TJA. The A there is to enable HA (highway assist).

The E in blue I am not sure about. I would need to see another VIN in that region to see what needs to be enbaled/disabled for his region, but an 8 there is for sure not correct because an 8 disables everything in that location.

I personally can't check it, but I'll send to the folks over at Ford Europe / Germany and do my best to get you answers.

Hey guys, just a quick update. Ford Europe called me today 🎉
They’re planning to fix my issue with a special OTA update. Big thanks to Brian and the Ford Motor Company, looks like things are finally moving. I’ll keep you posted!

@rugedraw
Thanks to you as well for your help. Really great to have such awesome people here in the forum. For now, I’ll try to stick with the official route, but if all else fails, I might eventually have to go down the Forscan path.

I can tell you that Ford has compiled special OTA's for people in the past to address vehicle-specific problems, so I believe it. Keep us posted.

Hey guys, just a quick update: Still nothing from Ford Europe. No OTA for my Mach-E, and consequently still no BlueCruise / predictive speed assist, etc... my God, it's so frustrating...

Did you already do your safety recall?

I was on the same boat: never had an update, no bluecruise. My sync version was on 22326 (reported by SYNC screen)

My car dealer was trying to do the recall actions this week, but my car keeps requiring new (old) updates via FDRS before they can do the recall. It is now at the dealer for 3 days!
This morning I got a (automated) mail from Ford, that I could subscribe for bluecruise. Wtf! I checked my sync version (via the Ford website, I still don't have the car back), and it seems 4.0.23291. I'm confused, since I thought the SYNc/APIM versions were on hold, but for sure it triggered something on my car!

Maybe it helps in your case as well!

Hi, I am in the Netherlands and struggling with the same NO OTA issue and running a 2021 MME with old software and UI. Had several phone calls with Ford and the dealer but they keep saying that the car is updated and can’t do anything. @Ford Motor Company Can you help us out here ? Nobody is taking this seriously in Europe. Software is everything in an EV and if we can’t have the car updated and then we are better trading it off for other one.

See my reply above... Did you already go to the dealer for the safety recall? I got the same answers you got, but the recall forces them to do updates via FDRS. They could not apply the update because my car was way behind and they needed to do the other updates first.

It took them almost a week (!!) but my car has the latest updates, I have bluecruise and it even updates over the air now!

Yes, already had the recall done. They did update a few modules and after the update i could open the frunk from the key fob and the Ford App. This was the only new thing that i got. But it has been several weeks and the recall is still open in my Ford App. Do you also have the new new UI with the camera shortcut button?

I don’t know what else to do. Are you also 2021? Mine is 2021 extended range RWD. Maybe go to another workshop. But the workshop says now there are no more updates left for your car. All done!

No, mine is a 2023... But I also got the same answer from the dealer: "there are no updates".
