There are zero guidelines in the announcement. It incorporates, by reference, an already existing Executive Order which undid most NEVI requirements including distance between chargers, eliminates state clean air laws, and suspends distribution of NEVI funds.

Yeah, this is just their attempt to run around the Court. As is pretty typical for them.

And the thirty day notice coming from these guys with their pro fossil fuel/anti clean resources agenda is interesting. Do we think they might use it to claw back funds if states don't file in time?
I expect they will “claw back” the funds regardless. Ice needs money 🙄

Hopefully this means the funding will start flowing again, but I'll believe it when I see it.

They removed some of the administrative requirements that had to be met before a site could be built, such as requiring the site owner to be a separate entity than the charger operator. They also removed the 50 mile spacing requirement between chargers (it can be longer now) that had to be built out on a corridor before funding other local chargers.

Movement on NEVI has been extremely slow, maybe this picks up the pace, even if we are still left with charging deserts.

Getting rid of the obstructive regulations is a good thing.

There were many hidden regulations that hindered the building of the chargers.

like they had to be minority owned companies doing the work. I’m not 100% sure but I thought I had read something like that.

why narrow the pool of companies to do the work.

When this had started, the disturbing part is that as of August 16, some 4,000 chargers have been funded but only 382 are open, according to the EV States Clearinghouse data project.
