The article on Vermont DCFC charging prompts this report. In Indiana, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) administers the VW "Diesel-Gate" funds. A check of their website found the PowerPoint images for a committee meeting. It reported contracting with a consortium of electric utilities to build 61 DCFCharging sites around the state during 2023. An internet search found a Request for Proposals from the consortium for chargers. Will this happen? Given that everybody and their brother is proposing to install DCFCharging, it probably will not. At least they are trying.
On the other hand, the Indiana Department of Transportation is taking their sweet time. They have published on their website an Implementation Plan draft. It proposes various steps with actual construction starting in June 2024.
Not that we could expect better. This is new territory for InDOT. They are more used to building roads and bridges, within rights of way, involving a limited number of consultants, contractors, and other entities like cities, towns and counties. This DCFCharging stuff involves a whole new technology, new vendors and new groups of other entities like charger site hosts.
What is the situation in your states?

Being a Hoosier, I attended the last public meeting virtually on NEVI funds and DCFC implementation. When the moderator finished his presentation and asked "Does anyone have any questions?" I asked, "Where can we stay up to date as to location build outs in progress?"

I was told to find the EV IN website for these updates. (The website still hasn't launched, and according to the moderator the first locations should be opening up in May.) I was then scolded for asking a question as a non-commitee member. My other questions that I posted in chat were not answered, including "What visual indicators will be on the chargers to indicate kw charging speeds to avoid confusion?"

Fuck em. I knew I was right to be suspect of the committee when no one knew how to operate Microsoft Teams correctly and the meeting started 15 minutes late. All visible committee members appeared to be over 65 and didn't understand some of the basics of EV ownership and charging experiences, showing their inexperience and unqualification.

I don't have a lot of faith in this committee and will believe their plans when I see the stations installed and maintained.

Here are two pics that speak loudly. Indiana map shows all CCS available over 50kW. Other map shows distance on I-70 between these stations. This year will be as nail biting as last in many areas. I will be avoiding I-70.

well... I now feel worse. Oregon has done nothing of substance in a year.

The websites look about that same as they did a year ago except that year 1 was FY 2022... and now year 1 is FY 2024.

The NEVI rules finalized on March 30th so hopefully they will accomplish something (at least solicit bids) in the next year.

I74 is even worse. It’s almost impossible to get to Indy from central Illinois.

I drive I-70 all the time between here and W. Va. Never had a problem, and I only drive around Thanksgiving/Christmas. I do have the ER RWD, but 117 miles isn't really a problem for this car either way. Not saying they shouldn't have more DCFC along the way, but getting from Chicago to Indy is more shaky if the Lafayette charger is dead/unreliable, which it has been for the last month or so.

Just sayin'... If ICE drivers were dealing with these refueling limitations there would be a national revolt.
