So I've charged at DC Fast chargers 5 times now. 3 times I could only get between 30kw and 40kw, while it was slow, it worked normally. However, the other two I got decent speeds, 90kw and 108kw, but when I get these speeds both times, it errored out at 34%. The car gives an error and unlocks the charge port and then the charger says charging failed. Below are the pics from the EA station. I missed getting pics of the cars error.

I only thought it was weird, because both times I've gotten the higher speeds, it failed at the exact same charge %.

Anyone else experienced this or something similar? One time was EA, and the other time was a non-EA station.

(On a side note, for some reason, this station only charged me $0.16/min. I think it may be because its listed on the website as a 50kw max charger when its actually 150kw)

Were the stations all from the same manufacturer? Wonder if there's a manufacturer-specific glitch. My 3 DCFC sessions were all slow but none interrupted, including one that passed 36%.

Now that you mention it, I've never looked at the manufacturer, but They may actually be the same. Different case, but the 3 buttons under the screen is the same.

Both times It was close enough to where I was charging to that I just went on.
I'll be traveling through OK on our road trip from IL to AZ late this year. Have seen the Francis Energy charging locations through the state.

Can you share your experiences with Francis Energy? Would you recommend having an account with them as a backup to our Ford Pass network?

Yes, i'd recommend making an account. They can be hit or miss taking your credit card at the station. And you get no receipt or anything even if you put in your phone number. But, it seems like most of the time their backend is down and it errors out trying to make an account. I tried for a few months to make an account but couldn't. A few weeks before I got my car, it actually let me make an account. They use EVGateway as their backend. They are not in-network for the FordPass Network so you can't use that.

As for the actual stations, They seem more reliable than EA stations. Almost every time they just work the first try. I've only had one not work the first time, but after I tried it and it didn't work, the app actually said it was offline, even though the station itself didn't say that.

My brother has a Chevy Bolt and has used EA and Francis and he has had the same experience, Issues every time at EA, but no issues at Francis.

The Francis ones are BTCPower, Electrify America uses BTCPower, Signet, ABB, and - prior to last year when they started ripping them out - Efacec.

From left to right: Signet (Gen1), Efacec (mostly removed), BTCPower, ABB

The new Signet ones look very different (and cooler IMO):

Francis has several different models, That one I posted the pic of is the model I've used the two times I've used Francis.

So in that case, they aren't the same then. SO there goes that idea. Francis is BTC, and EA is ABB.

So, i've found a trick to the charge port, if you think its stuck, let go of the button on the charge cord, and push it back into the charge port fully. I've had a few times it felt stuck, and pushing it back in it clicks latched again and then I can use the button on the handle and pull it out just fine. It does the same thing on my brothers Bolt as well.

While I haven't received my MME yet, I have used ChargePoint and EVGo to charge my other EV's (Ioniq formerly, now Kona & Honda Clarity PHEV) with pretty good success.

We don't have any Chargepoint or EVGo DC Fast chargers in my area.
