Idle HVAC? Does that mean off or at low load or what?
I think they mean idle, as in the car is not moving but still powered on. Like other references, they carried over ICE terminology that doesn't fit well when describing an EV.

So that’s what the latest HVAC update did. I noticed no difference when the dealer updated it a few months ago.

I had a rather unsettling incident this evening. About an hour after getting home, noting this pending update for 1:00 am the next day (my set update time), and plugging in, I got a "charge error" on Ford pass and a orange circle at the charging port. Unplugging the cable cleared the fault for about 10 min before it would return. I then got in the car, and was presented with a red "pull over" error, red battery symbol, and inability to place the car in drive mode. Fearing the worse, I rolled down the windows, powered down, and left the car alone for a few hours. Returning to work the problem, I was still getting fatal errors and unable to move the car into drive. My next step was to force the update right away, which it did in due course (thankfully the LVB was up to the task). Happily, the update cleared what ever the problem was, and the car is now starting and charging as expected. I am unable to conclude if this update was the cause or resolution of the error, but do note the car has never exhibited charge errors or inability to drive before.

Looks like it's only 2023s getting blasted with updates this week. Hopefully the other model years follow shortly and that this is a sign that Ford is finally ready to really pick up the pace and keep us all updated with the latest and greatest.

I wonder if this is a SW fix for the HVAC module LVB drain that some saw

Is anybody else having charging issues following this update, or have any idea how to fix them?

It seems that as part of this update, all of my charger settings (locations, location names, and charge limits) were wiped out. I used to have 4 or 5 charger locations specified with target charge limits. They are all gone now.

And, I am not able to add them back. Well, I was able to add 1 back. But no more. It says I must charge at the location before I can add it, but I have charged at that location twice since the update and it still doesn't show up. I am literally plugged into it now!

In order to not charge to 100%, I have to keep an eye on it and click stop charging in the app as I did last night at about 90%. But even then, when I got up to go to work this morning, it was at 100%, so it apparently reset itself again.

Any ideas? I have a 2023 Premium RWD with the Extended range battery.

Thanks,
Steve

I am having the same issue. 2023 GT. My charging locations are gone and I cannot add them back. Says I have to charge somewhere first in order to add. I only charge at home. Home location is gone and only shows a my address in the app. I cannot specify a target charge right now either. Cannot do it in the app or in the car.

This happened on my dad's 2023.5 Premium when he got the HVAC update. He luckily was going for his 10k service 2 days later and I sent him TSB 24-2141 (https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-charge-target-percentage-has-been-met.36309/) and his dealer followed the steps and it worked. He was able to re-add locations and the target charge worked.

I haven't gotten the HVAC update yet, so I haven't had to deal with it.

Hopefully - that would be really nice @Ford Motor Company

Wonderful, so I'm looking at a day off work wasted at the dealership to unscrew my car after this botched update was forced on me... Thanks Ford, way to make me thrilled with my purchase just 5 months ago.
