This happened back in September. Perhaps this bug is fixed now, but let me tell you about it anyway.
I'm in a national park, with no mobile reception. I use the backup start code, because I wanted to. Success. Car starts; works fine.
Around 1 pm, I left the park and regained cell reception. I received 46 emails informing me that the backup start code was used. It's not wrong, but it seems excessive ?
What are they teaching these programmers in school nowadays? It's amateurish. What's going to happen when I get my cabin in the woods? The car might have a fit trying to send out all those emails. Poor girl's gonna get constipated with a full queue.
Anyway, the software group needs to account for connectivity issues.
