No-drill front plate options

In some states the only time it's really enforced is during the vehicle inspection and unless you're getting pulled over for something else, the cops don't seem to care. At worst, it's a fix-it ticket.

Here is an additional data point. Colorado does not have inspections, except for emission tests which are required in the Denver-ish area but not required through the rest of the state. Of course, an EV does not even need an emission test.

A few years ago I had a car without a front tag and was pulled over going to and returning from Ouray CO. The reason for both stops was the missing front tag — no other reason was given. Maybe those were the only two times someone was pulled over in CO for lacking a front tag.

Or it just might be like here in CA. In a lot of places you can go decades without getting a fix-it ticket. In my town, the cops will nail you since they seem to think fix-it tickets are a competition.

I plan on joining the pilot program and getting the vinyl plate from www.licenseplatewrap.com

I spoke with my dealer about it yesterday and he claims up and down that the front plate brackets are being installed at the factory for California-bound cars and that he has no control over whether the brackets are installed or not. I’m going to reach out to him again next week with the link to the SSM on the forum that states otherwise.

As you can see by the photo above I've removed the bracket and applied the vinyl plate. it covers the holes and you have to look very closely to see where the holes once were.

My Lincoln I had to buy in IL otherwise I'd have to wait 3 months so it came with a front plate bracket. So I removed it and it had 3 hole sadly I used bumper plugs. They look great and did a good job. They might not have the mach e colors yet though but I love tlthese and have held up. A Lil pricey but hey they match amazing.

I wouldn't trust that site. Between that cheesy photoshopped picture they use, to their incorrect spelling of the word "except" (they write "expect", it just seems low quality.

Picked up my Mach-E last week from an SF Bay Area dealer, they had not installed the front bracket nor did they offer to do so (I would have said no anyway). So it does not seem like they are being installed in the factory for CA dealers.

I live in a state that requires it but I plan on running with no front plate for as long as I can. If I get pulled over for it, I'll be looking at options like this. The one that was found earlier by Craig? I think it was, didn't prove to be all that great of a product.

STO-N-SHO has a front license plate mount with a bracket that mounts to the bottom front bumper using an existing screw and the bracket is removable.

I used an off-label (not on their website) version of this bracket where the mount is attached with 3M auto adhesive under the lip where the OEM license plate holder would be drilled into place for a non-GT model. You have to request the “upper mount option”.

In the time since I posted that response, a while ago, I've since moved to a new state that doesn't have a front plate. So it worked out!

That's a lot of balderdash. I asked my local dealer to not install the plate holder and he complied. I'm also getting a licenseplatewrap.com once I get my personalized plates. We had one for our MY, RED EE and it worked well (the plate that is) on top of ppf.

At the time I posted that, it was true. In March of 2021, the factory stopped pre-mounting the bracket. My dealer did not install my front bracket at my request. I also left the bracket with my dealer in case someone other than me needed it. ?‍?
