Hi All

I have assumed by looking at all the manuals and instructions that the Parking Brake would automatically apply when you turn knob to (P), power off and get out of Vehicle. But I have noticed (worryingly) that when I get back into my car the Parking Brake light (!) is not on. There is no warning lights and if I apply the Parking Brake manually the Red (i) appears and stays there if I then power off and get out.

Is the parking brake actually being applied? Should I be worried?

Please don't reply with "Just set the Parking Brake manually" that is not the expectation of a fully functionally automatic parking brake.

Kind Thanks

Only if you’re parked on an incline.

Early 2021 here and caught up on all updates as far as I know. My car does not set the parking brake itself as far as I can tell, and I think I would be annoyed if it did. I am not worried.

Nope.

Yup.

Really? Is that part of the software update for parking pawl, or was it always a function? I have a slight incline in my driveway. If I did not set the park brake it seemed the car struggled to release the pawl. I always set the break manually.
