No setting to enable HD Radio

I just got a Mach-E (Select) over the long weekend and I don't have the setting to enable HD Radio (Digital Radio) as shown in the manual. My settings page for radio just has Radio Text and one other thing I can't remember. I know we have HD Radio stations here as my other car picks plenty of them up.

Is it available on both the Premium and Select radios?

The owner's manual doesn't say it's available on one or the other.

This is an interesting question... There's no mention of hybrid digital (HD) radio anywhere in the tech specs, ordering guide, or packaging guide. But as you said, it's described in the manual and doesn't have an "if equipped" disclaimer.

It is definitely present on my Premium trim vehicle.

Yes, my settings only have two options, Preset Rows (which I now notice reverted back to 3 from 4 ?) and then Radio Text. I'm tuned to a station which should have HD subchannels. The direct tuning only has 0-9 and no dot as I would expect for sub-channels.

I don't remember if there was a setting a few days ago and it disappeared. I seem to remember a setting but I could be mis-remembering.

I guess this answers the question then. No HD Radio on your Select.

I'm hoping it's a bug, hopefully someone else with a Select trim can chime in.

It's not a show stopper since I use mostly SXM but it was nice on my other car. I suspect it won't be as big of a deal with this car since I can't random access presets from the steering wheel like I could on the BMW. (I find pressing the screen presets for me too distracting)

So I called Ford and after about 1.5 hours on the phone, they said it's only supported on FE, Premium, and GT trims and not supported on the non-B&O models.

It took 20 minutes to give them my VIN, contact information (for the second time) and to explain HD radio is not SXM.

Another 5 or so minutes of the rep reading the manual to me on how to enable the setting and me trying to explain there is no setting.

Another 45 minutes to finally get to the point where the rep said that HD radio was only on the GT models (which can't be true).

So I gave them a VIN from a Premium I found online and then 15 minutes later she came back saying that the marketing department said it's available on FE, Premium and GT only with B&O.

I still don't want to believe it since now a days even the cheapest cars now come with HD radio, I think even within the Ford line itself (fusion, fiesta, focus, etc). To be fair, nowhere on the sticker does it mention HD radio.

If anyone with a Select has HD radio, please let me know either way. I have the Comfort and Technology package.

I had it on my Fiesta, but only because I had the Titanium trim level with the Sony sound system. The models without Sony branded systems (i.e., the majority of Fiestas sold) didn't have HD Radio.

Thanks for doing all the legwork-or phone work to figure this out. I have the car and package you have too and I’m disappointed that they couldn’t just include HD radio in the select. I actually appreciate the sub stations and like you said, older regular cars take advantage of FM going digital, why can’t all the Mach Es? I wonder if this is a software thing they can OTA upgrade someday?

Likely a hardware issue since it requires a license and corresponding decoder / tuner parts. I find the whole entertainment system so awkward to use that I just use Android Auto now to stream. I'm also considering cancelling satellite radio. (Mostly since I drive the car rarely, my wife listens to one station only.)

This suggestion worked! We just picked up our Mach-E Premium yesterday and wanted the HD radio stations, love the car

This is a great example for @Ford Motor Company of the inability of their support staff to answer a simple question. Customer Service in this country is woefully inadequate.

Tap the voice button on the steering wheel, and say "Tune Nine One Five". You get 91.5 FM.
