Mystery solved: I'm a moron. ?‍♂ Prior to starting this thread I had looked at the new windshield logo from inside while driving, and thought the heated windshield icon was the IRR icon. At that time I didn't know the OEM windshield without IRR existed, so when I saw something that vaguely looked like IRR from behind, I figured that's what I was reading. I also was told by the glass shop it was a direct replacement, so obviously they screwed that up.

For future reference, per Carlex's site the OEM w/o IRR layer windshield is NAGS PN DW02697, Ford engineering PN LJ8B-R03100-BG, and Ford service PN LJ8Z-5803100-K. The OEM w/ IRR layer windshield is NAGS PN DW02698, Ford engineering PN LJ8B-R03100-FH, and Ford service PN LJ8Z-5803100-M.

So, if you care about the IRR layer make sure you figure out exactly which PN you're getting. What I ended up with is actually exactly what I wanted, but didn't realize existed. Otherwise I'd be pretty pissed if I wanted IRR and didn't get it.

It's great that you got what you wanted, but out of curiosity, why didn't you want IRR glass?

That is a good question. You just reminded me, that when I bought my MME, dealer told me that only Premiums and GTs had the IRR windshield.
I just checked my ‘23 CR1 and it has the IRR windshield.

Primarily so I can use my radar detector (Uniden R4 which is basically impossible to mount in the minuscule IRR cutouts due to the headliner), and also it's more convenient to be able to just toss the FasTrak on the dash before going through a bridge toll plaza. I don't keep it permanently mounted on the windshield because, well, California. I don't feel the IRR brings me much value anyway as I'm rarely driving into the sun or at midday, and I use a sun shade when parked for more than short durations.

Thanks for documenting this. The infrared block is quite a luxury for me, as I commute toward the sun both ways. Unfortunately, I also commute in commercial traffic that kicks up an Oort cloud of debris in the way of my windshield, so a replacement is in my future.
