There’s an emergency release built into that lever. Normally, a short pull of the lever will electronically open the door latch. If the car has no power, a longer pull of the lever will open the door latch with a mechanical cable.

Rear doors do not have manual releases FYI.

Also, the door control modules supposedly have backup batteries that allow the door to open a few times electronically even if the vehicle power was cut.

Resurrecting an old thread. How about the rear hatch? Is there a way to open if the buttons are not working?

Yes, with a screwdriver under the access cover by the latch.
Could you explain it better. I have a flooded mme and I have no 12v power. thanks.

Best bet from outside the vehicle is to remove the bumper panel to jump the frunk open. Then hook up to the battery to jump the 12V system to open the doors.
