Has anyone noticed that the push open actuator that pushes the door open when you open the door from the outside doesn’t function when opening from the inside?
I am guessing Ford thinks it’s not necessary when the purely mechanical latch is used from inside, but I think it would be nice to have that little push especially when my 6 year old is opening the back door.
Ford could use the door ajar function as an indicator that the actuator should push the door open.

Interesting- I’m already worried enough about the thousands of actuations on that part. Not sure I would like to have its workload double.

It is because opening the door from the inside doesn't require the battery/electrical components. This is a safety measure in case the 12v battery dies, you won't get locked in the car.

That is very true: this must be mechanical for safety. But at the same time, it could add the electric assist.

It pushes the door open when opening from the outside to make sure it opens even in freezing weather. It assumes, I guess, that you can push the door open in freezing weather.

Yes and no. The presenter does not activate when opening from the inside, but there is an electrical component that opens the door and pushes it out a little.

In the front seat if you pull back the handle just a little the door latch electronically released and opens the door a little, sort of like a trunk or hatch latch. If you pull back all the way you get the mechanical release. The back seat only has the electric release, there is no mechanical way of opening the rear doors. So if the 12v battery is dead the rear doors will not open.

The rear door will open from the inside without battery power. It will open from the outside if the car was unlocked previous to it losing power. There's a capacitor that holds power for it. I have tested this.

Ok I’ll will rephrase, the back doors can not be opened mechanically/without power.

If it really bothers anyone that much, i suppose you could roll down your window and push the outside button.

Have you tried pulling twice?
I’ve never been without power thankfully, but my understanding is there is no manual release for the back doors. They are only electric release. The line in the manual about pulling twice I believe is just to unlock.
