Please tell me any states where I can buy a car and not have to pay sales tax at time of sale.
Sales tax is sales tax.
That community wants their money.
NJ currently does not charge residents sales tax on EV purchases. I paid no sales tax on my 2021 Mach-E

Thanks NC-GT! I'm in NJ and I've not found any close to $48k. The current dealer I'm negotiating with has the best price so far (52,489.16). Need to stay in NJ because there is no sales tax here on EV's
Pull the trigger!! But not like Alec Baldwin.

If spending double is worth it to you, and money does not matter, then go for it. Selling a working car or leasing is always a waste of money. I have done it too many times!

Was thinking of going to dealer tomorrow to test drive and possibly do the trade (2021 Prem AWD ER) at Options end in May with $25k Ford buyout) to 2023 GTPE in Star White:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Opinions welcome - is this a good deal? 1710786297432-

New wrinkle - the initial Internal Sales Doc they sent me shows 6 miles on car. Asked for confirmation and salesperson said he believes the last time he brought it in to charge is 216 miles(?!). Awaiting clarification on that.

216 seems an awful lot of miles for a new car. Thoughts anyone?

All I can tell you is that I recently did something similar. I had a '21 Select AWD that I was completely happy with, but when Ford announced the price cuts last month I ran some numbers and found that moving up to a Premium Extended Range could fit my budget.

I won't pretend it's a sensible decision but no buyer's remorse here.

Not for a car that’s likely been on the lot for hundreds of days.

Honestly I would RATHER it have 216 than 6 at this point. It means the tires won’t have flat spots and the car has actually been tested/driven.

Thanks @Mach1E . He sent me an odometer photo and the miles are actually 117, which I think is OK.

@Hammered , we haggled on those. I wanted them to get to the 52,000 range out the door and that is how they itemized it.

Non-tax fees are state motor vehicle stuff.

The math is easy. The $0 down and 0% interest rate means you save just under $11k by selling the Premium, investing the payoff and sale proceeds, and buying the GTPE...unless you end up paying more than about $150/mo more for the GTPE than you're paying for the Premium.

Test drove the GTPE today. Ride was good but there was noticeably more wind noise than my 2021 Prem AWD. Seemed to be coming from the mirrors, mostly on passenger side.

Go figure. Service Dept checked and there is a Ford Bulletin on that problem - and the fix was not performed on that GTPE.

At my suggestion, Service guy put blue painters tape on both mirrors and we did another ride. Noise was definitely less.

Told them to do the Bulletin repairs and call me. They were nice about it but I walked away. Will see if they call me back for another test drive.

Ask them to throw the painters tape in at “no charge” and they have a deal!
