I placed an order with a $500 deposit at one of our local Ford dealerships on Dec. 18, 2020 for a MME with Premium trim and extended range battery. The paperwork indicates a five digit “Order ID”, but nothing resembling the Order numbers I’m seeing on this forum. I received an email confirmation that appears to be from Ford.com. I spoke to the sales manager a week ago and voiced my concern, as in “Do I really have an order?” Of course, he assured me that I’ve got an order. I’m not at all convinced. Has anyone had an experience like mine!

others will jump in here but I seem to recall from long, long ago (last summer lol) that the order ID is the dealer-specific ID, vs. your order number which matches your reservation number on the Ford owner site.

If you think you have an order, and it's been a couple of days since your dealer told you you have an order, check it out at the owner.ford.com site and see what it shows, assuming you have an account there. Since you ordered through the dealer, you might not be able to do that, though? In that case you might want to call Ford at 1 800-392-3673 and just ask if they show your order.

The five digit order ID is your dealers. The orders numbers that are very long are only if you order online. So without the ability to check online (not being an online order) you will have to depend on your dealer and trust. They should be able to show the order in their screens and you should ask them for that - its just the first step of having having to deal with the dealer rest of the journey. You should be able to get a build date hopefully soon and at that point you should be able to get a VIN number - and once you have a VIN you can track that using the tracking tools.

Yes some of us have this experience - i have a Mach Drop order (wont get into what that is) - its placed with the dealer and I have 4 digit order number - and I have to completely depend on him for details. I have an online order as well and that order number is long and i can track it online at a very high level.

Thanks so much! That agrees with what I heard this afternoon from a person at Ford, but adds detail that they didn’t. I’d sure feel better knowing a build date, but there are probably 30,000 others on here thinking the same thing.

I order direct from the dealer(7/18/2020) like you and got the same but mine was 4 digits.
I was also concerned but I ended up calling the ford marketing number (800) 334-4375 and have they verified my order when I gave them the ID and dealer code
