Hi folks,

I'm new member here. Owner of a MME SR RWD living in France, I just come back from a road trip with my MME and I wanted to share with you an observation that I was able to make twice, each time after a quick charge on a DC charger (100kw or more). The consumption as seen on the display just after recharging was significantly increased during 5-10 minutes before turing back to normal. The first time I thought it was a problem with the battery because I had gone from a consumption of 15kw/h to 35kw/h ! I tried to stop for 5 minutes. To turn off the car. No effect whatsoever. It was only after 10 minutes of driving that consumption returned to normal. A big scare nonetheless because such consumption would not have allowed me to get to the next recharge point. The second time I was less worried and it only lasted 5 minutes. This time it was on the highway. Of course I looked on the Internet and I found other reports of excessive consumption on other electric vehicles after a quick charge. Have you also noticed this phenomenon? Is it possible to mitigate it, for example by waiting for the battery to cool down before leaving ?

That’s normal because the battery and/or cabin is being cooled down immediately after charging which initially takes more energy. Just keep driving, there’s no need to stop or worry about it.

Thank you for the information. Is this something related to the battery technology (mine is a NMC) or it's common for all EVs ?

Wow! You must be the only owner of a MMe in France! Just got back from a road trip and saw TONS of Teslas but nary a single e-pony. Saw a few ice Mustangs in Paris. As a matter of brands saw very few Fords in general. What gives Ford?

In the US, no one uses kW/h, we use miles /kW. We get around 3.0 on the highway. In cold weather, maybe 2.6, worse case 2.1 or so. If my math is right, 15kW/h is 6.7 miles per kWh. I'd get that if I was driving 15 miles an hour. 35 is NORMAL.

Normal for all EVs to use more power right after DC charging to stabilize battery temps.

FYI the energy units wrong, it would be in kWh/100km:

15 kWh/100km = 4.1 mi/kWh
35 kWh/100km = 1.8 mi/kWh

Thank you guys for the replies. I won't be worried the next time I go to the DC charger. Talking about MME in France, it's true they are not very common. But during the last quarter of 2023 you could have great deals and Ford dealers sold all the MME they got. I got mine for less than a M3, including the "techno pack" : glass roof, B&O sound, electric seats, motorized trunk, etc...

Quick question I thought I would ask it on this thread when you look at your current trip and you’ve been driving for a little while and it says accessories 5% climate one percent outside temperature 2% what accessories are actually being used if there’s nothing going except the AC? Of course, the radio would be on.

Climate is AC...

Accessories is all 12v but HVAC. It isn't a radio. It is a Sync system with a huge screen.

Yes, I agree with that but when I’m trying to figure out where it says accessories under the percentages, what accessories would be drawing 5% when like I said climate control is using less than that and driving is using say 88%.

On this 1000 km trip the traction battery doesn't seem to be cooled much after DC charging:

After a battery is charged, especially quickly, the voltage tends to settle somewhat lower. Might the dropping voltage be seen as increased consumption by the display similar to how your soc might drop a percent or two after a normal charge while parked?
