iPhone 12 Pro here. So, when I took delivery a few weeks ago, they setup PAAK before I left along with CarPlay, etc. Keep in mind, I was using the iOS 16 beta at the time, yet it worked flawlessly for the first week. Faithfully, I would walk out my front door and as I walked towards the car, the parking lights would come on and the buttons on the doors would light. Beginning the second week, it all went to hell. Either I couldn't get in the car without using the keypad, or I'd have to press the button over and over before the door would open. I'm still in the same boat today and I've tried the following to resolve the issue:
  1. Deleted/reinstalled app.
  2. Reset SYNC using the steering wheel buttons.
  3. Reset PAAK from the car.
  4. Deleted PAAK from the app.
  5. Deleted the phone entirely from the system.
  6. Had all modules updated to current versions.
  7. Wiped phone and reverted to latest iOS 15.
  8. Deactivated CarPlay/Projection, hotspot, etc in sync so just the BT Phone connection active.
Every time I add the PAAK, it works a few times and then back to the same issues. Is there anything else I should try that I might have missed here? Appreciate the guidance!

I don't know man, but I'm 5 weeks in and I've had the same experience (iPhone 13 Pro). Seemed to work really well at first, but now it reliably will not unlock the car on approach and instead it takes several seconds after reaching the car. Usually 2 door button presses before I can access the car, but sometimes more and sometimes (not often) it works on the first press.

I think it improves if you unlock the phone while you're approaching the car, but that's a lame workaround IMHO.

FWIW, I've been able to access the car 100% of the time with PAAK, and I'm still using it pretty much exclusively. But it often takes a long time before the car recognizes the phone and it's a poor and sometimes embarrassing experience.

It seems like a such a minor thing, but it's actually one of my biggest aggravations with the car.

I agree with you, it is also my biggest aggravation with the car. Every approach to the car I find myself staring at the headlight waiting to see if the parking light comes on so I know it's connected. Meanwhile, if I'm working in the garage 10 feet away with my phone in my pocket, I see the parking lights going on/off constantly - naturally, when I'm not trying to enter the car. LOL

PaaK is very Bluetooth dependent. If your phone is connected to any Bluetooth devices when you are trying to get in, the likelihood of failure is greatly increased. ??

I find that sometimes my car won’t recognize my PaaK as I come close to it, but if I force-close and re-open the FordPass app it usually solves the problem. Sometimes, just unlocking the phone and bringing FP to the foreground solves the problem. I am using an iPhone 13 Pro/iOS 15 (Formerly iPhone X/iOS 15). ??

IPhone 12 pro iOS 15.X. I have had the car for about a month and pack has worked fairly well. I have had to press the button twice a couple of times to open the door and had to use the pass code once to start.

I’ve had the car for about a month and a half. PAAK has worked flawlessly until the last day or two. It used to greet me with all the lights on approach, even when I just walked past it in the driveway. The past couple days it’s been hit or miss. A couple times I’ve had to press the door open several times before it woke up and unlocked. This coincides with the latest updates to 3.3.1, but not sure if it’s related.

I was a fan of PAAK since I picked up my first MME last December and never had the fob with me. I tried different ways to start the PAAK to work as advertised. But unfortunately all PAAK issues killed my believes in this feature and I gave up. Since last week I found out the best solution …. I bring the fob with me and no issues anymore :)

Could this be an iOS issue? In the 16 months I've had the car I've had zero issues with PAAK. But I've been using a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and now a Galaxy S22 Ultra. In fact, since I got the latest Power Up upgrade it's been lighting up the parking lights when I'm about 8 feet away.

My 13 month experience with PAAK is it works pretty well----until it doesn't! (Iphone 13 mini here). It's my experience the FordPass updates are a main culprit and tend to break some connections. I've tried the deletions and workarounds mentioned and often get stuck on the "unable to connect" messages. I'm sure it can work - but my frustration with the resets have led me to discount PAAK as a "set and forget" reliable tool. Since I'm the sole driver, I'm fine with carrying the fob (wish it was smaller). Hopefully it will get more reliable in the future. That being said - I love the car and enjoy the driving experience!
