Passenger side mirror

Hi. New to the group. I just picked up a used 2021 gt on Friday. Everything looked good on inspection. When I got home late Friday started playing with different settings and noticed the passenger side mirror wasn't folding in and making a big grinding noise. Got out to look at it and realized it had what looked like caulking in the gap and 2 holes drilled into it. (See pictures)
I reached out to the salesman/dealership but they are closed till Monday. Just thought id see if anyone had thoughts on why someone would need to do this. Is the side mirror a common issue? Ive see people say use the button to retract and extend the mirrors a few times an it resets it. But obviously this is something different and they went to an extreme to keep it from folding in.
Everything else seems work. The Mirror adjusts and the pony light works.

That’s not normal and there is no common issue that would require a sloppy DIY job like that. Maybe some clips on the cover broke? See what the dealer comes back with. The mechanics are probably stripped and it’ll need to be fully replaced. It’s ~$900 new (less if used)

Thanks. I thought the same, definitely a sloppy job. Im guessing previous owner did it. Its not noticeable unless you look under the mirror. The car had the folding turned off so the dealership may not have noticed. Hopefully they'll do something.
