Phone As A Key will not link

I just got my 2021 MME4X yesterday and I have been unable to link my iPhone 12 MAX as a key. I was able to link my wife’s iPhone 12 to her profile with no problem. If I try through the car, it says “Wrong device…”. If I try through the Ford Pass app on the phone, it says “Key Download Failed”. Anyone else experience this?

I had the download failure the first few times I tried (I also have a 12 max). Walked away for about 24 hours then came back and it worked fine and haven’t had an issue with PaaK since. Only thing I really did in between was go through the menus and update other settings. Possible I changed some things to fix the issue, I may have also reset my phone in between but not directly to solve this issue. Hope the same happens for you.

I tried it yesterday and then again today. I will reset my phone and see if that makes a difference.

Make sure you do PAAK first before setting it up as Bluetooth on a second profile. Also make sure you aren’t in a garage, it has to have good cell coverage

Any update on this thread? @TMHale13 did you get it to work?
I am in a similar boat where my phone will work but my wife's phone won't download the key. we both have the Iphone SE 2nd gen. the FordPass App will say "Key Download Failed" after one second of trying to download it. I was on the phone with FordPass last night for about 1.5-2 hours and they couldn't figure it out either. So now I have a ticket with Ford IT to get it fixed. I am determined to get it to work and will try other things I find on this forum later today.

These instructions from MotoMax appear to have done the trick. I tried a few things in a short amount of time, but I believe this is what ultimately fixed it:

“In the settings in the vehicle do a Paak Reset and a Bluetooth reset. Delete the Bluetooth connections from your phone and try again. You’ll need to re connect both phones.”
