What type of charger are you using? And list the steps you tried.

I’m on the road not at home. Plan on taking to Ford dealer tomorrow. Just trying to see if anybody had problem and how it was resolved. Need to get home

Are you using Plug and Charge? That may be the issue.

Try to activate the charger first (in FordPass or via the EA app). Then plug in.

Or you could also try gently holding/pulling the handle up a bit. Right after plugging in, just to take the weight off the charging port.

Yeah, if you don't have Plug & Charge activated on your Ford account yet, then you'll need to activate the charger before plugging it in or it will fail.

I saw something like this happen to a couple in an Audi who were trying for the first time to use some of their free EA kWh included with their car. The charger would recognize the car and try to initiate payment with Audi but consistently fail. They tried for maybe 20 minutes while there was a line of cars waiting to use one of only three working chargers. I suggested they simply pay with a credit card instead and that worked. Clearly there was an issue with the EA/Audi connection/enrollment.
