I would think the 3M tape should do the trick and the puck is anodized so I don't know if that provides any additional protection or not.Two different metals (aluminum and steel) also offers the opportunity for galvanic corrosion if the car is exposed to salt spray. The aluminum could act as an anode, similar to how sacrificial zincs are used on ships to keep the hulls from corroding. If the two metals are not in contact, this won't happen. Using a sheet of rubber, or Delrin, or the 3M tape between the steel and aluminum would mitigate this scenario.
