I actually just installed aluminum jack pads meant for a corvette that I saw another member post. The blue matches my MME ?

Wasn't a fan of modifying the rubber Tesla jack pads (cutting it) and leaving them hanging in there with friction alone.

Only used 1 bolt instead of 2, so I could center the puck better. But used 3M automotive trim tape on the puck as well.

So probably a dumb question, but if you have to lift from that jack point with a jack. How do you put a jack stand in place?? On "normal" vehicles I would lift from under the control arm, or cross member or rear differential etc.

I've seen others jack the vehicle and add in a jack somehow... how they're doing it? I don't know and won't ask questions.

If you asked me what is the right way? I'd say to use a Rennstand. It's essentially a three-piece jackstand.

When jacking up the front, I put the jack a little biased toward the back of the car so I could fit a stand in just about the right place, but biased slightly towards the front of the car.

If you permanently mount a pad, I think finding a place for the stand is a lot harder. It will mean it is farther from the jack point than I would like.

Yes, you see four jack stands. I really don't like getting under cars so a backup stand makes me feel a lot better.

@mkhuffman Good point. I bought the new sway bars and will have to lift my car up to put them on the car. I have the Tesla pad mounted on the car. I will have to do a practice lift to see if you can lift it up and put a jack stand in place. When I put my pad on the car, I was only thinking about someone else lift the car and not me with a jack stand.

I agree with you, getting under the car without some form of backup is smart. I usually put the jack near the jacks standing, with it ever so slightly pushing on the car. I also lay the tires flat under the car rails. If the jack stand slips out, and the jack fails, then the tires are last line of support.

A cheaper alternative for anyone looking is the bottle jacks with built in jack stands. At their pricepoint, you could buy 2 for the price of one RennStand.

I would 100% much rather have this. I've never heard of this brand. Is it a reliable manufacturer?

EDIT: This particular product would not work. The minimum clearance is 11", and I believe the Mach-E would need something closer to 7-8".

The RennStand also requires a min of 11.5"

But for me, I like to drive up ramps first before jacking up heavy vehicles in my driveway. Then the jack only really has to lift a few inches, less chance of shifting while lifting. I did this with my Jeep whenever I needed to do front end work.

Different numbers and designs here.

The bottle jack w/ stand you linked cannot accommodate anything lower than 11".

The Rennstand comes apart, so the minimum height accommodated is the top of the Rennstand, plus your minimum floor jack height. In order for the Rennstand to become assembled after jacking, you need to have it at least 11.5" off the ground.

Hi

questions for you.

any concerns about them coming loose and then you would have the back piece sliding around inside of the railing?

would locktite on the screw help To make sure it doesn’t come loose.

thanks

I forgot to write that I did use blue loctite on the one bolt for each of them. I've had them on almost a month - drove at least 1000km and checked them with an allen key. No issues, nothing has loosened.

The key is to clean the surface properly before attaching the 3M tape as well.

With the few mods I've performed requiring the Mach-E to be lifted off the ground, I tried out a few of the universal or Tesla-specific jacking pads which didn't work out to my liking. I've set out to design and produce something specific for the Mach-E.

Of the two designs below, please submit your preference in the poll.

I also welcome you to provide feedback and changes to the designs.

Option #1 - Round

Option #2 - Rectangular

Are you going to offer these round pucks to forum members like in a group buy? Not looking for a discount though.

Curious why the 3m tape would make any difference if using loctite

Is the addition pressure when tightening from the 3m whats helps

For peace of mine. Two ways of securing something is better than one.

If the bolt backs out from vibration, you don’t have an aluminum puck flyout from your vehicle on the highway.

the tape itself is technically strong enough to hold the pucks itself under ideal circumstances, since it’s meant for automotive moulding.
