If you left it unlocked and have the foot activated liftgate option, an animal could have walked under the back of the car.
That shouldn't work. The fob/PaaK needs to be present for hands-free liftgate operation.

Another gremlin:
The damn AC turns on by itself when I start the car, every single time the ambient temperature approximates (+/- 2 degrees F) the set climate, even with Auto OFF. Worse yet, AC turns itself ON repeatedly for about 2 minutes post start when I manually turn AC off.

No other vehicle I've had has ever demonstrated this behavior.
I totally feel your frustration. This car has a mind of its own. The software is super glitchy. I never know what it’s gonna do next.

Greg may have been thinking that the rear hatch opened while you were driving, since you were complaining about a driver assist feature in one sentence and the rear hatch being open with no warning in the next.

Then you seem to have jumped to the conclusion that he's trying to be an ass.

Not a minute later, you replied again, in which you seem to have realized you left out some context that would have helped people understand your actual situation, but you didn't feel fit to apologize while doing so.

Interesting. ?
What??? First of all, the captain obvious comment was directed at the car, not Greg. The screen told me the hatch was open, not Greg. But Greg, if you were offended in any way, I apologize.

I would turn it off. That will solve your phantom wipes.
Its a workaround, for sure. But it’s a little sad that such a simple thing won’t work properly. We’ve had Lexuses with this feature for many years, and there’s never been a single issue.

Oh, I see.

My apologies then! ☺
It’s all good. On rereading my original
Post, I can see how my omission would lead to confusion. I should have mentioned that I woke up in the morning, looked out the window of my house and saw the hatch wide open. We have nasty raccoons in the neighborhood. It’s a good thing one of them didn’t jump in and decide it was just car now.

I'm surprised that you never saw a phantom wipe if you always drove with the system turned on. My opinion is that is not the design intent of rain sense wipers, by I'm not the engineer. YMMV.

At first I didn’t. I had it set to where that little letter A was, thinking that meant Automatic, as in automatically goes on when it starts raining. But that didn’t work, and I learned that in order to have it on rain sensing, you have to position it next to the raindrops icon. Perhaps a little odd, since when else would you want the wipers to come on, if not when it’s raining? If I’m not mistaken, the A means you want it to automatically adjust the wiper speed based on the amount of rain—this should happen without such a setting.

Just tried it and it didn't work. Thanks for posting the manual page. I thought the doors just had to be unlocked

Mine doesn’t always work either. It’s most successful when it’s just a single kick. It takes a few seconds to register, but it works most of the time. Maybe with the next software upgrade all these issues will go away.

Can you explain what you mean by that?
