Is the front layout of the Really edition not prone to chips and needing protection?

Would it be worth getting full front PPF? I'm in The Pacific Northwest for weather context.

I also have a rally in the PNW and I personally decided that a little can of touch up paint was more worth it for me. That’s all I did for my WRX too. It has chips in the paint, and I just touch it up occasionally. I get keeping collector cars protected with PPF, but I daily my Rally and it’s going to get scratched and dinged, and I am fine with that. I am not on a lease - so I don’t need to worry about that side of things. The big black plastic grill in the rally, and hood stripe cut down on that paint exposure too.

I have seen they have sort of weak paint on these cars, but I just couldn’t justify thousands of dollars for PPF when touch up paint is like $15. I also have the hood stripe and that would have to be removed, cut around, or reinstalled for PPF and I didn’t want to do that.

I think it depends on how much you’re worried about keeping it perfect over time. Plenty of people swear by PPF and love it, I’ve never bothered.

Yes, definitely worth it for PNW driving — gravel spray and wet roads eat through front paint fast, and the Mach-E nose and lower bumper are chip magnets on the highway. We make a pre-cut Full Front PPF kit for the Mach-E here: https://twraps.com/products/full-front-clear-protection-film-ppf-for-mustang-mach-e — comes in partial ($399.95) or full coverage ($599.95), designed for DIY install. Does the Rally share the same front fascia as the GT, or is it unique? Worth confirming before ordering so you get the right cut.

Every Mach-E is worth wrapping, at least the front. I did a partial frontal wrap on two Mach-Es and they helped with chips and gave me peace of mind. Also have headlights, mirror caps, and all black trim on the sides PPF-ed.

Some even wrap the windshield to protect it from chips. But it only lasts 3-5 years and gets damaged over time.

I rarely drive high speed on the highway (always on city streets and going through traffic on the highway). It is still worth it to me.

That’s not bad! What material do you use? I paid $2,200 - 3,000 for a partial with Xpel 8 mil material.

It's TWRAPS PPF (we have quite the volume so we have a factory make our PPF per our specs - US TPU resins and glue). 8mil.

Thanks for the info. Trying to speak to some local shops on how they'd handle the bonnet stripes and what they'd charge.

Rally is the same, except with holes needed for the fog lights. I tried wrapping my center fascia not-cut-to-size the other day as a test of my skill and I’d probably do it once or twice more before I spent real money on a pre-cut kit 😂

but I think it should be quite doable especially if you disassemble the bumper.

What I really don’t have a handle on is how to wrap over the existing stripes on the Rally. They’re matte texture - do I just go straight over them with gloss? Do I try to precisely cut out around them? (sounds impossible!)

if anyone else wraps a rally I’d love to know what you do and how it comes out.

Hmm 🤔 Good question. Do you mind sending a photo of the front so I can see what it looks like? (I've never seen the Rally in person)

Ah! Thanks! Now I see the issue...there's no cutting around these, it would take a neurosurgeon's hand to do it properly. In that case yeah, wrapping is basically putting gloss over it or just doing a full body matte wrap.

Is there a way to custom order a hood wrap for Rally that just PPFs on either side of the stripe? That was one of my major deciding factors in not using PPF and settling for the touch up paint is I didn’t want to have to deal with that. If there was a Rally style hood option or with cutouts for the lights, I’d be much more keen to jump on that. As it stands, my local shop wanted a huge amount to deal with the stripes and I’d have to gloss over them and then also gloss the back stripes to match. Just wasn’t worth it when all I really wanted was my front bumper and hood.

i did consider your product, but I have zero instal experience and with the modifications I’d have to make to fit the rally it seemed like more than I wanted to tackle.

That's pretty accurate, as it's what I'm picking up

That’s it! I suppose another minor difference - the center fascia I believe is glossy on the GT but matte on the rally, so I’d strongly prefer a matte PPF over that (apart from my terrible skill, the matte I tried on there adhered well and looked OEM)

another thought for the hood: peel the OEM stripes and apply new ones over the gloss PPF. Depending on availability and cost of the stripes that might be MUCH easier although I don’t know about adhesion of vinyl to PPF.

Sorry not really... I haven't developed this :(

The stripes are textured/patterned from Ford and are several hundred dollars to get replacements. $4-500 if I remember right. Seems like a waste, but a two piece hood PPF that could butt up on either side would work well enough for me. Even if it cost the same as a full hood for the custom cut, it’d be much more tempting so I don’t have to fuss with the stripe removal and reinstall.
