Why can the preconditioning of the vehicle not be initiatied from the app on demand? I don't leave the house daily at the same time, but I generally know when I'm going to leave in the next 10-15 minutes. I's like to see (unless it exists and I don't know about it) an option inthe app that lets you select pre-condition now and give it a time when you plan to leave. So If I get downstairs and I know I need to eat breakfast and go to the bathroom I can sleet the pre-condition and let the app know I'll be leaving in 15 minutes and the car would be all set and ready to go. i know I can leave the eat settings to my preferance and turn ont he car, but that seems like extra steps and perhaps I wasn't the last to drive the car. Anyone else interested in a feature like this?

Are you just talking about preheating the cabin? You can do that.

If you’re talking about preconditioning the battery, 15 minutes isn’t enough time to make much of a difference.

Yup, in the winter it takes 30-60+ minutes to precondition the cabin and battery so pressing a button 15 minutes before departure wouldn't be enough time to do anything other than warm up the cabin.

Most folks asking for this feature don't understand how long it takes to accomplish.

I have had it take 80 minutes.

You can speed up preconditioning a little if you have a DCFC <19 miles from your location by starting the car, setting the DCFC as your destination in the Ford navigation in the main screen (and telling it to start directing you). However, it's not possible from the app. And it can still take some time.

While preconditioning fully does take longer, that doesn't negate that it'd be nice to avoid a portion of the ~14 clicks and 25+ seconds it takes to set up a precondition, which you then need to undo later on, for one-off departures.

Very low on the list, but I'd find it nice to have a "start preconditoning" quick button (with or without a "full preconditioning may take up to x minutes depending on temperature, humidity, wind, sunlight, number of doors and/or windows opened, and other factors" warning if deemed needed), "depart in x minutes/at y time" preset button, or even just a "this is a one-off" toggle in the existing menu.

What I’ve been doing for ad hoc departures is to press the “charge to 100%” button in FordPass about 30-60 min before I need to leave. The act of charging will warm the battery a little bit, but not like preconditioning will. My normal charge settings are 80%, so I always have enough headroom to do this. It may not be that effective, but it’s a single button press to initiate.

Do you mean preheating the cabin using the remote start button in the app? I have been doing that but would love to know if there is any other way.

If you have an Apple watch, you can add the FordPass complication to your watch face. It's quicker than getting your phone out for remote start.

Thanks for the explanations. I actually did not know this and was wondering about a "quick" preconditioning too but now know that isn't possible .

For me it is still very useful because I have my car in the attached garage. It's not a heated garage, but we're talking 42°F in garage vs 28°F outside thanks to my house and my neighbor in the townhouse sharing (losing) our heat to the garage. I would love a 15min remote start with an added 30min precondition option. Hold one for remote start, hold other for precondition (with some kind of setting to the side about cabin temp).

It's a feature that everyone doesn't need but exists for the one's who know.

Like a secret menu.

Let's keep it that way. ?
