Premium vs GT, orders, wait times

Hello fellow Mach-E enthusiasts!
I’ve been lurking in the forum unregistered for quite some time. I’ve learnt more about the car here than from the dealership! Plus, there’s more info to learn about here than what the salesmen know! So thank you all for that!

I have a question that I’m hoping I’d get some guidance/advice about!

I placed an order for a premium star white AWD ER Mach-e on 3/9/21. Obviously waiting impatiently with no updates the dealer. I checked in with them today and said they don’t have a scheduled date, built date, etc yet. Based on estimates, they expect my car to be delivered by end of June butwho knows.

now that the GT orders are opening up on 4/28 (that’s the dealer given date), would it be reasonable to switch the order to a GT instead? I made the mistake of not placing a reservation unfortunately. Do you think GT orders will be delivered on time??
I’m only asking because I’m getting impatient, as we all are, and my car is falling apart. My thought process is, maybe they’d be able to fulfill these orders sooner because the demand isn’t as high as that for all the other models (I presume)

If you don't already have a GT reserved, you will likely get bumped to 2022 GT and that will probably be late fall or even 2022.

Switching to a GT won’t bump you up in the line. And if you don’t have a build date yet, you won’t be seeing your Premium in June. If you don’t want to wait, your best bet is to find a cancelled order on a dealer lot somewhere.

Can confirm. I just received my scheduled build date on Thursday. Week of 6/21/21. Or 6/20/21. Depends on whether I look at the Ford e-mail or the Ford website. ?

Yes, existing GT reservations can order the performance version. The performance version is treated as option and you will be able to select any GT options and color you want regardless of what options you may have selected on your reservation, as final options and colors weren't available at the time of most reservations.
