Just got a message saying the Mach-E is preparing cabin. Never received this before and never set a schedule, confirmed in the app. It's very cold with an ice storm in the south and I have it plugged into the EVSE L2. Any idea why this would happen? Tried a few searches on the forum but no answers to why this would occur.

Well I tried a few search terms and got this hit from a guide on the forum. Is this true? It will keep the battery warm just by having it plugged in? If so why would the app alert me it was 'Preparing Cabin' specifically with no departure set or forced climate turn on?

-Strategy A - Just stay plugged in

This is the easiest way to keep the battery somewhat warm. It doesn’t require much thinking or any programming. When you get home (or to work) just plug in your car (do this every day). The Mach-E will keep the battery above freezing. Works similarly to a block heater on an ICE.

NOTE: The battery will only automatically heat during preferred charging hours. Please set your charging hours to be as permissive as possible.

Yes, it was warming the battery.

It was keeping the battery above freezing. The app just doesn’t use the right wording.
