Just circling back to this thread to mention that I asked my dealer to fix this during my 20k service appointment. After several days of telling me they were researching it, they finally told me that it's normal and they won't fix it. It's mentioned on the paperwork, and maybe that'll help me if it starts rubbing the paint off.

Well, as one of the other people who said "me too" earlier in this thread, I'm really disappointed to see that you got that response from your dealer. It does sound like they decided they didn't want to fix it because it looked too much work after they researched it.

I haven't tried to fix the problem myself but continue to be annoyed by it every time I connect or disconnect. It does seem like the mounting for the door must be inside the front wing / fender but I haven't been able to find any good photos (on this forum or elsewhere) that show it. Does another forum member have suitable photos or is anyone willing to investigate for those of us with less workshop experience?

The door assembly clips in. I'm assuming the way the hinge is it's just a pin that slides in a track. The door pin it's self doesn't look like it could be adjusted unless you slightly worble the hole out and move the door pin it's self.
Does anyone managed to to release the 4 clips on step 4 from picture above? Any tips?

There is one detent clip. There are four feet that ride in a channel. The channel holds the cosmetic door on the hinge. The detent clip prevents the cosmetic cover from sliding out of the channel. ??

EDIT: Still thinking of the door cosmetic cover in the title. My bad. The clips can be accessed with the frunk tub and beauty panels removed. I haven’t done it myself but from what I remember of having everything else out, a small plastic pry tool should work on them. I will have to experiment, but it won’t be soon. ?‍♂?

The 4 clips im mentioning is the internal one that holds the charging door hinge not the one the ones that holds the external cover.
