I will be undergoing ankle surgery soon that requires a cast on my right foot/lower leg and NO weight bearing activity for 6 weeks ... which means they recommend NO driving.
I am very comfortable with 1-p regen braking for 95% of my braking in daily driving, and I could use my left foot for emergency braking... but managing the accelerator pedal with a cast on my right foot, or with my left foot, is really not great. I tried using my left foot the other day, and it was pretty awkward.
I am wondering if there is a place to shop for, or at least look at, options for a hand-throttle... possibly for people that are disabled permanently ? In particular I am wondering if there is something pre-designed to fit the Mach-e, or if all this sort of thing is super-custom ?
I found a couple options with a quick search....
a flimsy looking one for <$100
https://www.amazon.com/OceanicEcho-...Handicap/dp/B0DMNL3Q7B/ref=asc_df_B0DMNL3Q7B?
and a more sopisticated all mechanical one on ebay for <$400
https://www.ebay.com/itm/396147311834?
and more sophisticated ones for more permanent long-term installs such as the "Featherlite sure-grip" with electronic throttle control, spinner on the steering wheel etc that seem to run about $1000 or so for the system, plus a day for professional install.
I am wondering if anyone has used anything similar during 4-8 week rehab after foot/ankle surgery ?
comments? suggestions? reviews ?
