I wanted to confirm that my vehicle is charging during the correct charging times. When I looked up the log I noticed that it indicates when it’s 1. Plugged in, then 2. charging start 3 charging end and finally 4. Unplugged. How much electricity am I using leaving it plugged in while not actively charging or is it negligible.
I noticed since getting my car my electric bill has jumped up 200-300a month and wondering if that’s normal.
Daily charge is anywhere from 20-35% 4 days a week and then maybe 15-20% 2-3 days a week. Typically charge to 90% when cold and 80 when it’s warmer.
thanks just wondering if this is normal or I need to adjust a setting.
thanks

Ford Mustang Mach-E Question on charge logs 8879D78D-D5F2-46D5-9ECC-41ED4703851F

This is a typical charge log from my Chargepoint Home Flex. It indicates 0kw during plugged-in but not charging. There are just two little blips where it went momentarily to 0.05kw. So I would say negligible.

This is in my 50 degree F garage, so I’m not using any power for battery conditioning. May be different if the vehicle was outside in the cold.

A 200-300 dollar increase seems quite excessive. Roughly estimating based on how much you say you’re charging, I would expect to pay about $70/month at my electric rate. (approx 600kWh X 12 cents)

Here the EV utility plan has multiple rates --
11p-7a = 1.49 cents
2p-9p = 20 cents (M-F)
all other times and all weekend (sans the 11p-7a, that's every day), 6.9 cents.

I've got 45kwh worth of batteries and solar, I only buy power at 1.49 cents FWIW. The $15/mo service charge for the plan is more than my electricity :D

The car does not pull power from the EVSE unless it is charging or preconditioning. EVSE idle consumption is a few wHs, whether or not it is connected to the car.

Assuming you meant 200-300 kWhs, consumption varies with miles driven but that sounds typical. Taking the avg. utility increase of 250 kWh @ wall (= 225 kWh @ HVB) at the efficiency in your trip report 3.4 mi./kWh = 225 * 3.4 or roughly 770 mi./mo..

I have a question about how the Ford App actually logs the charging. Mine initially was logging the charges but the past 2 times I’ve plugged in it hasn’t logged in my app. Any ideas or do I have a setting turned off? My emporia charger shows the graph. Pasted pics below. Thanks!

The FordPass app is not reliable for recording charging. It may, or may not, recognize a charging session.

Thank you for replying. Crazy the app is not reliable to log that data. Seems like a simple enough task. Maybe one day they will release a patch.
