Rear Wiper Design variation

Any idea if the rear wiper housing changed over the years?

I'm trying to replace my rear wiper and having some issues. When I pull the blade it just slides around, no click to remove the wiper. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe the blade is just stuck inside the housing.

The housing also looks a bit different on the end than what I've seen in rear wiper replacement videos.

If yours looks like my ‘21 Premium in first photograph, blade assembly just unclips pulling directly away from the arm per video. Second photo shows the open ended clip on blade which fits into the bar inside arm.

So mine seems different MY2023.

The end of my arm seems a bit different? Also I don't think I can raise the arm as high as you can. It seems yours is totally perpendicular to the glass. Mine seems to only lift maybe 35 degrees off the glass.

Look at a new blade which will give you an idea of the fixing, is it same as this?

@Teslaeata is in the U.K. It might be a slightly different setup. My 21 is similar to yours but it’s way too early here to go out and start rummaging in the garage. I’ll take a look later and see if i have an answer.

The owners manual for your year shows it comes out in two stages, the clip area is "L" shaped. First, slide out toward the end, then second, like @Teslaeata pull it away.

Also, in case you don't know, you can put a longer blade than what came stock, it helps quite a bit. The Bosch A401H is recommended, I got mine here, it's $8.

On the newer style you have to pull the blade horizontally first. See the owner’s manual for your model year.

I was able to get my wiper off yesterday, although, oddly enough it looked like the same attachment design as the 2021 models. Go figure.

When I bought my rear wiper, there were two options in the website. One said Japan, the other said Mexico.

I thought that meant where the wiper was made, so I bought the “good” Japan one. I was wrong. It meant where the car was made.

So, depending on where the car was built, there’s two different wipers which look very similar but won’t interchange. I swapped out the right one and it clicked right in.

Did you remove the blade's hinge cover? Then you can lift the blade 90⁰.

Didnt know that was a thing, which part is the hinge cover? It appears to be a two piece design.
