I am looking for recommendations from people that have used a battery maintainer to then use FDRS to update modules. I would rather not spend $400 US, but I know there must be some minimum requirements, which is why I am hoping someone can share their experience.

Thanks. What AMP do people run it at?
To answer your question, I'll use a quick rule of thumb:

Amps are pulled, volts are pushed.

So as long as the source (in this case the battery maintainer) can supply sufficient amps and the voltage is correct, the battery/car will pull what it needs.

You run them in power supply mode during updating. That will output the 13.8V 20A.

Power supply mode is a different mode than battery charging.

You need two of them so you have 40A output. GT's will use more sometimes but the deficit can be made up by the battery unless you're doing a really long update. I would only worry about an IPMA update.

Is there a reference on how to proceed with 2 of these?

Just hook them both up:

Apologies again for reviving an old thread, by the way the photo is extremely helpful.

Question 1: So in this photo is your 12V battery not in the car? Related question is there any way to remove a 12V battery without taking out the frunk?

Question 2: Might there ever be a circumstance where attaching power supplies (just like in photo) might be a good idea right before a big OTA starts?

If you think of electricity as water, amps/current is water flow, volts is water pressure. The more pressure the greater the flow, assuming the pipe (resistance) is the same size. A bigger pipe (less resistance) will allow more flow (current/amps) with the same pressure (voltage).

My 2018 F-150 sits a lot and I leave my noco genius 5 connected to it when not driving it. I'm not sure that an MME would need any more than that, but I've never had to use it on my MME.

Just hook them both up:
Have you run into any issues with having two in parallel? Seems like if they aren't really well matched, or actually designed to load-share you could wind up having one back-driving the other.
