Makes/Models/Model Years:
FORD/MUSTANG MACH E/2025-2026

Mfr's Report Date: December 18, 2025

NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V885

Components:
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE

Potential Number of Units Affected: 45,047

Problem Description:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Mustang Mache E vehicles. The Light Driver Control Module B (LDCMB) may fail, preventing the turn signals, daytime running lights, low beam, and high beam headlights from illuminating. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence:
A loss of exterior lighting can reduce the driver's visibility and the visibility of the vehicle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy:
Ford will release an over-the-air (OTA) update or dealers will update the LDCMB software, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk are expected to be mailed January 30, 2026. Another notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available, anticipated April 2026.

Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C71.

Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 12, 2026.

Wow. They got so good with issuing recalls that they now do them on cars that have not been produced yet.

It's like Minority Report, but for subpar quality.

Interesting fix. So the problem is a hardware failure of a memory chip causing the control module to not boot, but the fix is just to update the software to basically ignore the failure and force the module to boot anyways?

So what was the purpose of the memory chip if it can run without it? 🧐

It looks like it does something to detect a no-boot condition and give the driver a message on the instrument panel.

Well, you can't drive it because the lights may fail and you can't park it because it might roll away.
Hey! I can drive mine. I just can’t park it. 😅🐩

The real travesty here is the lead time required to deploy an important OTA like this. Sigh.

....and you don't even know if it applies to your particular 2025 or not.
