Recommend obd2 Bluetooth scanner

I have searched many threads. I am looking for a Bluetooth obd2 scanner that goes to sleep and uses no power when my car is turned off. I don’t want to unplug it each time I use it.

OBDLink MX+ is the only one with a low enough standby power consumption to stay plugged in all the time.

I'm a big fan of the MX+ and have one, but specifically for the Mach-E I picked up the OBDLink CX. It can also be plugged in all the time but has the main benefit of being the only one that can be used with the ABRP (A Better Route Planner) app for the OBD integration feature (Bluetooth LE). The MX+ doesn't work because it's not BLE.

If you happen to have a BMW, CX is also "Made for BimmerCode" if you're interested in BMW coding, although the MX+ does it just fine.

Alternatively MX+ gives you the free enhanced diagnostics downloads from all supported vehicle manufacturers (including Ford) if you have other vehicles, and is "recommended by the FORscan Team", so ultimately you'll have to decide which you value more. I haven't tested it yet but I believe the CX doesn't work with FORscan BECAUSE it's BLE.

To summarize: Get CX only if you plan on using it with ABRP, get MX+ if not.

Can I update FORSCAN with this unit or do I need the wired version?

You an use the MX+ to update with FORSCAN. I don't know about the CX.

Do the lights on the obd2 max+ stay on when it is on sleep mode? I have a steady green one and a flashing blue
