I listed mine on the ol’ Craigslist today and 2 1/2 hrs later it was sold.
Just curious, how was the price you got vs KBB private party? I don’t have experience with Craigslist, but have sold numerous cars via Autotrader and typically came way ahead.

I'm sure that is right, years ago I used to mostly sell my used car to a private individual. I don't know why, but it feels somewhat more risky now, either by some kind of fraud or the risk of having to deal with an unhappy buyer.
I’ve always listed cars on Autotrader and sold for a fair retail price (below dealer, but well above tradein) and never heard a thing from the buyer. You are explicitly selling on an ‘as-is’ basis, as the law requires. As long as you afford them the opportunity to get the vehicle test driven and inspected…and provide all maintenance records, you are covered.

The issue is with payment clearance and fund availability. So I go with the seller to their bank, take the check directly from the teller and deposit it into my account on the spot.

To me, the above hassle is worth a couple grand in my pocket.

KBB private party pricing wouldn’t show when I calculated. Kept getting message that pricing wasn’t available. Caravana and Vroom were on the low side in this case. They had around $45,600 but I sold for $51,000 which is a couple hundred more than what I paid new including tt&l plus docu fee.

Just curious, how was the price you got vs KBB private party? I don’t have experience with Craigslist, but have sold numerous cars via Autotrader and typically came way ahead.

So, just a closing note on Driveway. Soon after closing by overnight mail, they paid my equity by direct deposit (days) and then Ford the difference (about a week). They assigned a local dealer as the pickup dealer. That dealer is so close (3 miles), I drove Louibluey over. I was going to walk home, but they insisted on giving me a ride home. So, it took just over a month, but overall, the experience was much better than Vroom or Carvana.

At one point during the month, I was about to try Carvana again, but accidently filled out the Driveway form again. The new offer was $1k+ higher! I called to "complain", but they said, yes no problem, the value has gone up, you can have the higher number! FE, 7,500 miles, $58,500, not bad, especially considering that I got to drive it for a year and half. Still shines like new, the local guy who does ceramic coatings is amazing! Overall, best car I have ever had the pleasure to own, thank you Ford! ?? (old guy, okay sorry, I guess I kind of understand the icons now :)

I'm moving on to try out an Ioniq 5 in the fall/winter, then might circle back in a year or two for a GTPE as my full retirement vehicle which I might keep for some years, not sure yet.
That experience does not sound “better” than my experience a few months ago with Carvana.

Sold my wife’s Flex to Carvana.

Experience- spent 3 minutes online, got instant offer.

Clicked link to schedule pickup. Scheduled for 2 days later.

They came to me, picked up her car and title and handed us a check. I think I signed a single form.

Not sure how it could be easier. Literally 10 minutes of my time plus a 2 day wait.

Here is her car going away:

All good points, but for me Carvana offered $2k less and wanted me to drive 100+ miles to their nearest service area. The experience seems to vary a lot by location and personal goals of the sale. The one month part of the Driveway process was somewhat painful for me, the local dealer drop off (they would have picked up) was good.

When our GTPE came in Wednesday, invite offers from Driveway, carvana, KBB instant offers, and CarGurus.
First edition with 6,500 miles and the Driveway quote was $59,900. Dealer matched it and we are Z plan on the Ordered GT.
They would have bought it as well if I wasn't buying a car for the same price. Everybody is low on inventory.

All you need to know is below!
From a list at work, here's some names on your list:
  • Sonic
  • Bidlane
  • Peddle
some of the listed sites are geographically-limited. I don't remember which ones.

When I ran some tests on April 26 with my Mach-E, this highest by far was CarBuyerUSA, followed by Autonation, then Driveway, then Rodo, then Vroom. Carvana and Autonation both were unable to give me an online value.

Peddle's value was a really idiotic insult, way, way low, under $20K. I have to believe that's an anomaly of some sort.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Recommended Method To Sell Car? 1656855576215

Vroom, loading up the worst car I’ve ever owned in downtown Chicago. Similar experience, easy transaction and immediate wire transfer. This was back in 2018. Vroom, CarMax and a local Hyundai dealer offered the same price. It was easier for me to meet the truck driver at the garage door instead of driving to a dealership in the suburbs. I signed a Bill of Lading on the driver’s iPhone and off he went.

Too bad their prices are nowhere near what CarMax offers today. But am intending to sell retail and make a few extra bucks.

Yes, it varies greatly by location.

My personal goal is to get the most money possible. Many that quickly sell take way below what they could get. I have priced with most of the services. Right now, there is a variation between low and high of 16%, i.e. I can get 16% more with the high offer. That's a lot of money.

I have a dealer, not local, that has beaten them all. I'm still trying to sell it via private sale, because while I'll get more money, a private buyer will be able to keep the 0.9% loan and pay thousands less than if they didn't take the loan. We'll see if that pans out.

I just did some spot checking on my GTPE with 6K miles.

In round numbers:
Carmax can't quote it online ("not enough sales")
Vroom is at $62K
Driveway is at $67.6K
CarBuyerUSA is offering $70K

There's nothing I'd prefer to have over the Mach E, even with the contactor issue out there, but it's interesting to know what the options are.

When getting estimates from these sites, they ask about mod’s, are PPF and ceramic coating considered mod’s? And do they help increase the resale value at all?

PPF is definitely a mod.

Ceramic coating is definitely NOT a mod.

Mods DECREASE value.

Shift offered the most for my BMW that I am selling when my Lightning arrives.

Shift beat out: CarMax, Carvana, Driveway by thousands more.

Great example of where location matters. I contacted Shift, and they said "oh no, we don't deal outside our CA area".

My second (wife's) MME is scheduled to be delivered in about 6-7 weeks and want to get ready to sell her existing car. Anyone with experiences outside of traditional channels like dealership & carmax? Heard Carvana, Vroom. Looking for stress free and time saving process. ...and top dollar.
I also used CARMAX, very painless as long as the car you're trading in is close to flawless and low low miles. I got two quotes from Vroom and CARMAX. CARMAX beat them by $6000 it was a no brainer! They even got me a ride home from Lyft. I can't complain at all!
