I’ll be in LA and doing lots of driving from Port Hueneme to Ontario and Long Beach. I guess I just talked myself out of EV

Absolutely save yourself the trouble. I rented an EV last year. They said the likely car was a Tesla or Polestar, but I ended up with a very slow charging Solterra. It really isn't worth renting an EV and taking the risk that you spend all your time trying to charge.

You don’t have to take the car they initially assigned you. I always just go to the counter and ask for a ford. I have turned down the solterra, Tesla and Kia’s.

I reserved an EV from Avis in San Francisco last October and I ended up getting a Mach E premium. They had a bunch of them. I did not see any Teslas.

Yeah. I think this thread is a bit odd. It turned from how to get a specific EV, into a few paranoid posts about EV‘s generally. Pretty sad, but the original poster also rolled over pretty quick. Shame as people actually have real experience with the very airport he rented from.
