Replaced Windshield

Hi Everybody,

So due to the work I have been in NJ for the past year and half and finally had my 2021 Mach-e gt sent over from CA at the end of december. My business partner had been using it over there so it wasnt sitting idly. I had all 4 wheels replaced over there before shipping it out. Anyway on the way here the auto transport truck driver hit a bridge and my car got slightly damaged, it was on the lower level right behind the cab so nothing severe but obviously had some debris fall on it.

Ford dealership replaced the windshield, did a paint touch up and a couple other things and i finally got it back to me like 2 weeks ago.

When i go over 70 i hear a lot of wind noise in the car, I do not remember it being like this when i used to drive the car. Like when music is on you cant hear it, but when driving silent its loud enough that it bothers me. Also when i go over 75ish the wheel starts to shake a little so I think an alignment is necessary, when i had the tires replaced i didnt have them do an alignment but some of me wonders if its due the accident impact and it being chained on the auto transport truck.

It also started giving me a low 12v battery, i am wondering is this due to it sitting in a ford parking lot for 3 months or the car is now 4.5 years old and just needs a new one.

So I just wanted to ask some fellow Mach-E drivers if the cab is noisy while driving at high speeds normal or am I right in feeling something is off?

I have a 21 Premium Extended range and do not hear wind noise at or above 70 mph. The low battery warning is probably due to the age of the original battery. I would change out the battery before the car bricks

Since you just had some work done, it might not be this, but people have long complained about some wind noise from the mirrors that can appear after owning the car for a while. Thanks I have apt at the dealership tomorrow for a diagnosis, if they dont charge an arm and leg to do the battery swap, i'll just have it done there while they check my other problems.

thanks. Never thought to check it from the other passenger seats, i will try it out today.

I recently received the notification to replace the battery in the app and scheduled an appointment with my local dealer. Before they even had me checked in they ran a remote diagnostic and said the 12v battery looked great. They did run a battery test since they had it and it confirmed what they saw remotely.

My guess is that the previous owner had the original replaced (I have 21 premium) and that the app just sent out a notification based on time elapsed versus and actual fault being detected. The irony is that they also did the recall software update to prevent being locked in the car if the 12v dies so win/win!

I would check the alignment. If the trailer hit a bridge and the wheels were strapped down, that is pretty much like running into a curb at that speed. I'm glad your damage was minor, I hate to think if you were on the top level.
