But I doubt 330 mile range and 0-60 in 3.0 happen for $47,500.

It’s like saying-
Mercedes C class, starting at $46,950, 0-60 in 3.7 seconds***

Wow, almost two and a half years out. Risky bet announcing price and specifications so prematurely. A lot can change between now and then. People are going to be expecting the vehicle with this pricing and performance. If Rivian is forced to change them, there will certainly be CT like backlash (well not quite as bad because this is less hyped).

Also, Rivian could use this vehicle sooner to boost sales.

They’ll get a lot of $1,000 reservation on Thursday when they reveal to line their pockets. They priced it inline with MY, so very defensible. When Tesla raises the price in 2.5 years they will follow.

I'm watching this with a lot of interest. I think we will be in the market for a car for my wife in 2027ish so it might be the right timing. She likes the look of the R1S but thinks it is too expensive.

I hope Rivian can make it. I've always rooted for them. They seem like such cool vehicles.

I thought the car is coming soon like end of the year. If the production date is 2026, the company may not even survive until then. Maybe they are aiming for the reservation $$ and number for capital and stock boost.

Yeah, I still chuckle when I think back to the $39,900 price in the press release. I knew there was not a chance it would be that price...

They don’t have a plant yet. Georgia is being built, while Illinois is cranking on R1 and the Amazon delivery vans.

I test drove the R1S last week. It is a very large and heavy vehicle. It rides okay, not as smooth as I expected. Despite the 3.1 sec 0-60, felt a bit sluggish given its size. Of course it is a massive vehicle on city streets and can see us struggle a lot with it.

Marketing an “adventure” / mountain tuned vehicle in the middle of downtown Chicago / flat Midwest is a bit of a joke.
