Part of my decision making while MME shopping is how long I plan to keep the vehicle. I like to keep cars for about 10 years so rust can be an issue. I'm also hearing some talk of a tray underneath the MME holding lots of water, which is concerning. What are my fellow rust belt drivers seeing so far?

I’m in MI. This is our third winter with the car and I’ve seen no signs of body/door rust.
That sounds promising, thank you for the feedback.

If you don't mind my asking, are you garaging it? Any special rinse routines? Or just park it and forget it? (Which is my usual mode of winter car care.)

Yes, garaged. No special treatment, I run it through a car wash as the weather allows (couple times a month if it’s been in salty conditions).

Second Winter in Michigan. Seeing no issues. I do put it in a garage. I only run it though a car wash when the salt on the windows prevents me from seeing out.

Kneel down and look. The entire front, and back of the car, have a diaper. Drive in the rain, come home, then come out the next day and you'll see the puddles.

I'll take a look next time I'm near one. I'm still shopping so I don't have unlimited access to one. The 'diaper' sounds like a rust magnet, right under the battery isn't it?

No. As I said, front and back. Battery is separate.
