I've setup my home 'preferred' scheduled charging to coincide with my electric tiered bill - so the cost of electricity between 12 midnight and 12 noon is 1/4 of usage from 12 noon to 12 midnight. I setup charge time on my 120V circuit to start at home at 12 midnight, but my MME immediately starts charging whenever I plug it in completely ignoring the 'preferred charge time' costing me a lot more money to charge and actually says it will start charging as soon as I connect the charger. What's the point of having a preferred charge time to coincide with my electric company policy if the Fordpass app completely ignores it?

If the car determines that it can't reach your desired charge level in the scheduled time it will start charging immediately. Charging at 120V will make this increasingly likely.

Does it stay on or are you walking away when it starts and assuming it stays on? When plugged in at home, mine will charge briefly to evaluate if it can charge within the planned period, then shut off. It then comes on at the time needed to charge to the desired level.

I reduced the percent to charge and it worked - the car is now saying waiting to charge, so I assume I will see more of the expected behavior after I get a 240V circuit installed. Thanks for your message.

Buy a WiFi outlet and set the schedule with it.

No it started charging right away and just continued. The last poster solved it for me. Right now I only have a 120V circuit (getting at 240V.) The dealer delivered the car 25% charged so when I plugged it in it said it would take 3 days to fully charge. BUT now that it is up to about 70% and I indicated only charge to 85% it waits to the specified preferred time. A little bit complicated, but I guess it makes sense.

Yep. You’ll get to know the math soon.

This is why I'm put a timer on it with a WiFi outlet. I discovered this while owning my 2018 Fusion Energi. Unfortunately, the vehicle doesn't say "you can't reach the targeted charge level, would you like to override the acceptable charging hours"? Ford Support never figured that out with my Energi.

When using 120, a WiFi outlet controls the power, so the car cannot charge outside of hours. Then you can set the car to the level you want to end up with.

You can also use a simple mechanical plug-in timer. Just make sure whatever you use is rated for 15 amps. I use the Kasa outlets.

With our 240 wired charger, I have it set to only provide electricity during my off-peak hours, and the vehicle is set to the same. I could set the vehicle to always charge, since the charger won't provide electricity outside of my non-peak hours unless I override it. Both are easily overridden.

Shame on your dealer! Mine said he had to charge it to 100% before he was allowed to release it to me. That’s the “filled your tank for you” equivalent of the new car experience. Rude of them.

If TOU is critical for you, I would recommend a Chargepoint, Grizzle Networked, Juicebox or other "network connected" wall charger. That will control your schedule better, be very reliable, give you costs and reporting, and give you live updates through your home network. It will also give you a few more Amps of charging over the Ford portable unit.

Keep watching Ebay for a deal. I paid $250 for a Chargepoint Home new in the box without the Cord. A cord was $75.
