Hey everyone, I was hoping someone here might have an idea on how to solve a problem that arose in our Mach-E last night. Starting this morning, it is as if the computer running the center console is messed up. It has the following symptoms:
  1. it is slow to boot
  2. when you put the car in reverse and it displays the cameras, the picture is jittery and only refreshes once every few seconds
  3. when it uses either apple carplay or the google equivalent, we displays the attached picture
  4. It will still pump audio through it, so we can start a song or podcast on the phone and it will play the sounds through the speaker system
  5. The console is very slow to respond to touch
So far to fix the issues we have done the following:
  1. Turned the car on and off (including opening the door) to get the computer to restart
  2. Tried both a iPhone and pixel
  3. Driven for 15 mins to see if it gets better, it doesn't
I would really appreciate if anyone has ideas.

What's your build date? Your car could be getting one of the latest OTA updates, which sometimes makes it go all haywire until its fully installed. Try restarting the Sync screen using the steering wheel controls: hold the volume rocker in the volume down position and the right arrow key together for 10 seconds.

As someone who needs to do this ~every 4-6 weeks, I've started to just go ahead and do a reset every Monday now...

I've had the exact screen you shared. Doing the sync reset mentioned by Neil fixed it, but it came back VERY SLUGGISH. About 2 days later, I had a newly completed OTA and performance was back to normal. Based on my experience, you should be fine. (I'm job 1.5 FWIW)

Thanks everyone! The reset worked. Now let’s hoped it stayed fixed.
