Is this the most useless feature they could have put on Ford cars or am I missing something? I turned my notifications on thinking I would get notices if someone tried to break into my car. No, I only get notices when myself, carrying a fob and my phone as a key gets into the car. If anyone without a key tries to open a door I get nothing. I already know when I'm getting into the car. In what instance would it notify me of something bad? If someone breaks a window, they aren't opening a door, would I get a notice?

Yeah I leave it off, if your alarm goes off you’ll get an alert though

I turn it on when I go somewhere where I know my car is going to be vulnerable for awhile, like a sporting event. Off the rest of the time.

If you turn on alerts will you get any useful alerts that you wouldn't get with them turned off? It seems like turning them on only tells you when someone gets in with the key.

So leaving alerts off, if someone hits my car or breaks a windows and sets off the alarm, it will still send me the alert? This is good info. I'm learning how this works now. Leave alerts off unless I'm leaving my car with someone that has a key and I want to keep track of.

The wording in the app seems a bit confusing. It seems like toggling to SecuriAlert OFF would disable all alerts.

Yeah Securialert is totally separate from the regular alarm alerts

So I turned off Securialert when we last talked on this thread. Today I wasn't thinking and reached into my open window to grab something without my key and the alarm went off. Great, that is what the car should do. But I didn't receive any sort of notification on my phone or in the FordPass app about that alarm. Shouldn't I have received some notice?

Edit: from reading Ford's media, it sounds like I would have to manually activate those notifications anytime I'm away from the car. That just seems very cumbersome. I'd prefer if I could just leave securialert on but customize what notifications it sends. Like I don't need to know when I open the door. Having to turn it on and off manually is going to lead to a lot of lapses.

But that also means if Securialert is turned off you get no notices if someone tries to break into the car.

Unless you have notifications turned off, yes. That’s not related to Securialert.

Securialert is separate from the regular alarm notifications. I honestly don’t understand the purpose of Securialert, it seems very redundant.

So what other notifications would I have turned off? I get all kinds of notices from my fordpass app about charging and other stuff. I did have my phone with me when the alarm went off and after about 15 seconds I opened the car door and it turned off. Would that cancel the alarm and not send me a notice or is there another notification that I need to turn on? Looking in the app there are no messages and it says there are no active alerts. Maybe I did cancel it before it sent a notice. Guess I need to find a quite place and set it off again and let it run.

You should have gotten the alert, but if it’s not showing up in Messages in the app, it didn’t register for some reason. Sometimes alerts can inexplicably be delayed, so it may show up in an hour…..or a day……or never.

I charged my vehicle on Monday and Wednesday using Plug and Charge. The first notification that I had charged, via email and the app, came on Friday at 2:27PM...

If someone breaks into my vehicle on Monday, will Ford let me know on Friday? ?

The delay is such that SecuriAlert is practically useless to me. I parked my car, went into the grocery store, and 5 minutes later got an alert that my door had been opened. After a second of panic I realized it was the alert from when I opened the door. I only even activated it so I'd know the next time my rear hatch opened on its own, and I leave it on solely for that reason. I wish you could fine tune it to only alert you when doors are opened after the car has been locked and you've walked away.
