That guy took a hell of a risk accelerating away. A few inches and that bullet would have been in his head.

That being said, stealing an EV is a bonehead move.

Doesn't MME have only 1 camera? Wouldn't have caught this.
One could say Ford has a “blind spot” here around this particular security use case. Especially with all the attention people say they get driving the Mach E around — all of that attention won’t be welcome

Seriously, what are you going to do with tracking enabled or the car remotely shuts down? Desperate times I guess...

the existing 360 view would be pretty tough with one camera. ?

there's many threads on here that talk about wanting "sentry mode" - pretty sure a new one was posted yesterday. Ford has so far only said they are aware of the request.

I know Ford has a 360 view, but I’m not sure if they’re active cameras or have sentry mode. Honking horn to save video is a really worthwhile feature to consider for safety, both for accidents where people honk their horns reflexively or scenarios like this:

maybe an OTA update?
The camera had nothing to do with "saving" this guy. What it boiled down to was the carjacker didn't know how to open the door, that's it

well I would say that guy’s military training probably had the MOST to do with that situation...in reality though there are probably multiple factors that allows someone to escape (or not) in a situation like that. I don’t think the added viewing angles hurts when general awareness of your surroundings, goes a LONG way in safety.

The cameras are not constantly displayed in the car

The rear and rear quarter views can be enabled to be constantly displayed inside Teslas. There’s a button on the display to enable while parked or driving.

Of course, mirrors work too, but the cameras do provide a wide angle to see things that are not visible in the mirrors if situational awareness is paramount.

The ability to record and save the content is what is extremely valuable in cases of traffic and criminal incidents.

Tesla did not advertise the recording feature before it was developed and released. It was offered after owners were reporting a rash of break-ins. So, It’s conceivable that it is offered as an option later on the Mach-e.

What are the available viewing angles on the Mach-e cameras? Are they mostly high mounted downward facing or is that just a trick with software? Could they be used to look “outward”?

it would be interesting to know what the camera view from the mirrors are when they are folded in?
