I just got a notice on my phone and watch that the charging was complete. So I checked the screen to see just how long it took and if it really stopped at 90 percent like I wanted. When I touched the screen I noticed that in doing so, I accidentally touched the button to open the trunk. So I went out to my garage to find the trunk open against the garage door. It was very slightly scratched by the center hinge. My problem is that I can't pull up far enough to be away from the door. I only have a few inches in front and behind since another vehicle is (parallel) parked at the front of the garage. I guess I'll be finding a soft cover for the hinge real fast.

Don’t worry your not the first with an accidental opening. Bunch of others have posted the horrible event in other threads. If light enough they should buff out.

I thought you had to press and HOLD those screen buttons before they did anything, not just touch them?

This happens with garage door openers too. Clipped to a purse, bump it in the house, and it's open all night.

You do have to press and hold for widows and doors. Apparently not for trunk release.

I don’t have my MME yet but I decided sometime ago that I’m going to leave the power hatch disabled. Those times I’m going some where I might expect to need it, it is only a couple clicks to re-enable. Seems worth that minor hassle.

That's a bonehead implementation. A quick app update can fix this.

I deactivated the power hatch on day 1. No clearance behind my car with the door closed. Not taking any chances with all the monkeys in my house.

You can set the hatch to only open so far. I have mine set that way for exactly this reason. Instructions are in the owners manual. You can still manually push the liftgate up to full open if you desire.

I read a post about this 2 months ago on this forum and immediately went out to put padding on my garage door. Have read that dogs running under the car can activate the foot opening.

Yes, it is a Vanderhall Venice. It is a fun ride. I drives like a small sports car. You never feel that it only has one tire in the back. It has a 4 cyl gm motor with front wheel drive. They also make an electric model called an Edison.

Yeah, I too don't have much clearance behind my Mach E, so yesterday I added some padding along the garage door, hope it's thick enough.

By the way, love the garage! I sold my Kia Stinger for the Mach E, that was an excellent car but excited for my new ride ?

Are you sure about that? I just tried it, and mine requires a press and hold to open the trunk just like the rest of the buttons. If you just tap the button, a message appears at the top that says ā€œPress and Holdā€.

The Mach e is my wife’s car. She had a ā€˜13 mini clubman. I don’t know if I would have traded the stinger. In my opinion we now have the best of both worlds.
