I can't imagine my dad would put up with this nonsense. It doesn't pass the dad test.

We want EVs to take over the world, but unless this is carefully detailed in the manual it's just another domino taking a fall and water cooler fodder giving EVs the bad rep they nearly deserve.

So, someone with a manual*.... how is this procedure described in ink and how does it compare to the real world?

*I'm not getting my car til Sept... Oct... Nov... Dec... January(?)....So I haven't read it yet, it's bound to have changed by then..

Anyone else having issues with SAVING their charge settings. Suddenly my Charge Level went from 70% to 100% and when I change it to 60% I can not save the change. The Save Button is not lite up like it use to be and I cannot apply the change.

In addition to what others have said, you should set the car to charge to 80-90% max instead of 100%. It's not good for the battery to go up to 100% every day, and it also might figure the last 10% goes a lot slower time-wise (charging rate slows down the closer you get to 100%, so keeping the battery lower charges faster). You should be able to charge 60 kW in 12 hours, which is 68%. If you set it to do 90%, that means if you get home with more than 22% it should charge in one day.

If it's still showing it won't finish, I would just extend the end time to 8-9AM and hope it finishes early.

Keep the battery 20-90% for optimal efficiency and performance, including charging rates and regen.
While charging to 100% every day may be bad (I had a Chevy Volt for 7 years and charge it to 100% every night. I never had battery problem or degradation), I only charge the MME once the battery gets to 50% or lower. Most of the time, that's once a week. Since the battery has 98 kWh but Ford only allows the use of 88 kWh, I am curious if 100% is really 100% of the total battery?
Either way, I think they need to provide an option to only charge during the preferred time, even with a departure time is set (In winter, I would like the car to be warm at departure time and do not care if the battery is only at 78%. I do not want to change the preferred time as it matches the low rate time and I do not want to be charging during peak demand on the grid.

That option could also allow overriding the setting so that normal mode would be to charge to the setting (let say 80%) only during the preferred time and the override would be to charge to 100% even outside preferred time. That way a simple switch would allow to get the car to charge to 100% the day before a long trip.

Just consider this as a suggestion for over the air update.

That is very humorous.

Ford's MyFordMobile, which is the app for hybrid vehicles, has always had this problem. Ford has known of this issue since 2018 at least (when I told them), and brought it to the "weekly team meeting". They had no resolution.

I'd suggest that people get very vocal if they want Ford's attention to these kinds of things. I'm probably going to send the CEO a note telling him that my purchase of a F-150 Lightning is in jeopardy, but more important I'm not throwing praise on Ford on social media, and that isn't going to help future purchases...

The vehicle will ignore the charging times if it cannot achieve the set level by the end of the charging period.
I assumed that is what it was doing, but in my opinion it should not do it this way.

When you park it comes up and says "Hey I can't make it to your requested percentage", that should be your key to go to your app and start charging. If you don't manually go in and tell it to charge then it should not start till your schedule.

If you have departure times set then I could understand if the car took more drastic measures and turned on charging outside of your window. However it should pop up a message or alert you that your car will start charging outside of your designated times and give you the option to use your schedule instead.

For those of you NOT in CA, it might not be a big deal. But here in CA, during peak hours, my electricity is $0.60327 kWH which is absurd!!! Having the car go rogue and start charging outside of my set times would be costly... I'd much rather go pay .41 at a DC charger lol Even Super Off Peak hours is still $0.29881 kWh. I just changed to an EV Plan through SDGE and my Super Off Peak should be $0.09 now.

Totally agree. This has been an issue for years with Ford PHEV's, so not having a "don't charge outside the specified hours" setting is inexcusable.

With the 120v charger, using a WiFi outlet plug solved the problem for me with my PHEV. Now, with the Mach-E and 240v, I have both the car and the charger set to my off-peak hours, so it is not going to charge.

Seems like waiting for Ford to add this feature to their software is a fools errand so a smart EVSE is the only practical answer.

Just an interesting finding.

I came back from a trip around 3 pm, with less than 25% on the battery. My home charger is only 5kw (25 amps 220volt). When I plug it in, it said it could not charge within the schedule time (7 am to 7pm) and start charging. Using the Ford app, I stop charging. It restarted within a minute. So I unplug it and re-plug it around 8 pm. It then charged to 7 am and stop. It was at 74% and stated it would resume charging at 7 pm and be done around 2:30 am.
