So this is a slightly random one, I will admit.

Something has been chewing on the shark fin arial on my MME. (I said it was going to be random)

My initial suspect was a cat but thinking more likely a squirrel.

Anyway, it’s a lease car so I’ll probably look to change the fin before I return it. Has anyone managed to do so at all? And can you just change the outer casing of it (if I can avoid changing the whole thing I suspect it would be cheaper)

in the mean time I may have to coat the fin in mustard to put the bloody thing of chewing it!

This is third hand knowledge, but someone recently posted here that they took delivery of their car with some white protective film still visible under the fin. I can only assume if the dealer takes it off to prep the car it can be (easily?) replaced.

Worth a call to the dealer I suppose...

Based on the service manual, you would need to pull the headliner down and then there is a bolt, a few wires, and a couple retaining clips.

I VERY highly doubt they're pulling the antenna off to remove excess film at delivery. That stuff should usually just pull right out when you're removing it (like pulling the protective wrapping off a stainless steel appliance or something).

I would spray it with something like Bitter Apple (mean to dissuade pets from chewing furniture), or put Vaseline on it. Then I’d just wrap it with vinyl.

Depending on the amount of chewing it might go unnoticed. There are some plastic weld type things (jb weld and the likes) and gloss black model paint would probably match really close.

Those aren’t bite marks, those are custom adjustments to the aerodynamics.
