Hey all,

Trying to get some feedback from the group. My 22 Mach-E Select is almost to 20k miles. I am taking the car in this Friday for my 20k mile maintenance. However, this past week I noticed that when I went over a speed bump that I could really hear the springs bounce in the front. I live in the desert, so it's been colder in the mornings now, and recently I changed jobs to a work site that is 2500ft higher than where I live. I figured it was just because of the cold and the car has never really been in these temps.

Now I am not a mechanic by any means. It took me HOURS to install my steeda bars. My buddy is though and he claims that the shocks are likely going bad. This seems really soon. This is not my first new car and I have never had this issue with any previous vehicles. This is my first electric car though and is quite a bit heavier. I am just hoping to get some input on what could potentially be going on and if this is even normal.

I bet your shop will love to tell you what's going on, if anything, during your next appointment.

Hopefully your Steeda bars aren't what's making noise...

I don't think it is. I am planning on looking at them today, but I have went through all the steps to stop them from rubbing against any other parts that was identified in this forum. If anything, I am going to switch back to OEM to see.

I am sure they would. I also don't like being surprised or potentially just told I need to replace something when that might not be the case.

Both the frame mounts and the end links are finicky about the amount of grease and type of grease that's used on them. The stuff that Steeda included with the kit doens't work well in the frame mounts. I used a blue-green marine grease in the end links and the frame mounts. Check to make sure that the four end link ends are greased well and that the frame mounts are greased well. ??

Well that could be an issue. I watched the install videos and used what they provided.

Almost all the problems that one runs into are due to the work that just was done. Sounds like you have something loose from your install.

OEM shocks are a known area where large manufacturers cheap out.

Our Fusion shocks (two Fusions) were crap by about 30k miles... especially the rear ones.

Most users will not notice as the decline of function is gradual.

You were correct in that something was loose. This Steeda bar is driving me nuts as it is constantly rubbing against other parts of the car even with all the steps taken by Steeda and this forum. So while I do not have the shocks issue anymore, I have the rubbing issue again.

I learned this lesson over forty years if wrenching. Most of my issues were of my own doing.
