We just had the Ford Charge Station installed and did the first charge at home last night. I have my settings at 80%, but it charged it all the way to 100%. This was not unexpected, but can the FordPass/ChargeStation app be configured to shut down the charge at 80%?

I am struggling with this ChargeStation app...it keeps saying to remove the faceplate and capture the info there (Access ID, etc). I did this, but during repeated setups, I keep getting the message "Please verify you are connected to wallbox network", but clicking on WiFi settings takes me to the settings on my iPhone with no further info. My WiFi connection is there, ChargeStationPro and FordPass "Location" are set to "Always" and show "Local Network" is on. "Bluetooth" is on with FordPass. While it initially found the charger after installation and charged successfully last night, this morning I got the message "No Stations Found".

In short, no (caveat - I don't have a Ford-branded charger).

The charger doesn't know the charge level of the vehicle, it thinks it is starting at zero each time. Therefore, you have to set the limit in the vehicle. Once you have charged at the location, you can now save that location and set a charging limit, and hours.

Or, you can look at the SOC, and do the math. Example - vehicle is at 60%, you want 80%. That's "add 20%". Set the level of charge to 20%.

That raises an question for me...does the "Target Charge Level" refer to the total battery capacity or the amount of the actual Charge that is received?

Setting the charge level will net you adding zero charge to the car, since it is beyond 20%.

You can set max charge in the car or via the app, the EVSE only know howuch power to deliver and when to deliver it.

You can delete the target charge or delete what it is set at and create a new one. Mine is set for 90% at home and I override it quite frequently.

If the charger cannot see the level of charge in the car, then setting it to 20% adds 20%. Again - I don't use the Ford Connected Charge Station, so I'm uncertain as to it's ability to read that info. No other level 2 reads the car's state of charge.

The app or car lets you to set the target charge, not how much you want to add. (I don't have the Ford charger either, but having a person do math and calculate makes no sense and overcomplicates the process). If a user wants to only add 20% to their existing charge they'll need to see the target charge to their desired charge level.

You'd never say to the car "add 20%". You always set a max charge level. It's been that way in multiple EV's we've had of multiple brands.

If the Ford EVSE lets a user set the target charge then great.

Yes, I know that.

And, if you have an intelligent charger, like I do, it assumes there's a zero state of charge. So, if I set it for 20%, it would add 20% to whatever the car has. So while it may not be worth doing, that's how it would work.

What type of charger do you have?

It's interesting that a wall mounted charger would be set up to do a handshake with every manufacturers vehicles.
